The person will be responsible for management of and participation in current and future projects. Specifically, the move of the IT Infrastructure to a Co-Location facility, Security Management and Remediation, Server Architecture and Management, Asset Management and Tracking, and overall Operating System and Hardware platform security.
Again, we would like to proceed with a "right to hire" meaning that they would be working on a consulting basis for a minimum of three months and then a mutual decision could be made as to the hire of the selected consultant.
Summary
The MS Windows Senior Systems Engineer will be responsible for systems architecture, design, active directory design & security, application level support and IT Infrastructure Management.

The ideal candidate should have expert knowledge setting up, configuring, maintaining, and debugging Microsoft Windows systems - specifically Windows 2003 Servers, XP workstations, Active Directory, Microsoft Exchange 2003, Microsoft Operations Manager, Microsoft Systems Management Server and various other Microsoft and third party server and workstation/productivity software. The candidate must have a sound fundamental understanding of systems, networks, and software and good command of Active Directory scripting and Group Policies. Other experience should include setting up DNS, DHCP, Microsoft Exchange and domain controllers.
Major Activities
The Senior Systems Engineer will be tasked with developing strategic technical direction for a growing organization. The engineering solutions brought forward will have to be developed with an adaptive framework that builds on previous architectures as the organization grows. Primary activities will include a review of Active Directory setup, configuration and management, server utilization and configuration, dual factor server authentication using certificates, asset tracking and management via SMS, IT Infrastructure redundancy and availability.
Projects
Management of the IT Infrastructure move to a Co-Location provider.
Planning and Management of a 24x7 E-Commerce Website from the current provider to the new Co-Location provider.
Planning and Management of the move of Exchange email environment from the current provider to the new Co-Location provider.
Developing a standard architecture for servers, naming conventions and security policies.
Management and oversight of junior engineers regarding patch management and auditing.
Management of Active Directory Security and Group Policies.
Serve as the primary security administrator at the Operating System and Hardware levels.
Skills
· Subject matter expert in Windows 2003; this includes configuring multi-server Windows 2003 deployments with Active Directory, DNS, IIS 5/6 and security.
· Must be extremely familiar with Exchange Server 2003.
· Must be familiar with SharePoint 2003, 2007 preferred.
· Must demonstrate a thorough understanding and management of DNS.
· Must demonstrate TCP/IP knowledge and troubleshooting.
· Must demonstrate an understanding of hosting and managing a basic website (HTML, FTP, SMTP, POP3)
· Scripting knowledge
· MS Biz Talk Server 2006 experience
· MS cluster experience
· Expertise with Windows 2003 server architecture and OS fundamentals
· Expertise designing and implementing Enterprise level Windows server automated provisioning including tools such as Altiris, Jumpstart or Microsoft RIS
· Ability to provide technical leadership in the testing and integration of various essential and high visibility projects
· Familiarity with Windows security fundamentals (SCM, WSUS, NAP, IPSEC, GPO management)
· Experience with VMWare virtualization technologies
· Experience customizing the compute environment (via GPO, login scripts, profiles)
· Deep technical understanding of AD, DNS and DHCP in the enterprise
· Experience with issues around enterprise Software Deployment and Patch Management (i.e. SMS, TCM, BigFix)
· Experience with HP DL, DELL (Poweredge) hardware platforms
· Ability to write technical and operational management documentation (Solution proposals, System design and engineering documents, Change Proposals, and Deployment Readiness Reviews)
· Experience giving presentations and writing technical documentation, strong communication skills
· Background with enterprise server management (VBScript, ADSI, WMI)
· Familiarity with core protocols (i.e. TCP/IP, CIFS, DFS)
