Market Data Operations Manager BAKJA1

*Job will begin in either NJ at Metro Park or in Midtown Manhattan until

August, and then move to NYC permanently. Some travel between locations
until the move will be required.


*Salary to 95K + bonus

Job Title:* Market Data Operations Manager

Background in Market Data Operations and technology related to domestic
and international
equities. Candidate must have in-depth understanding of equities trading
systems, market structure and domestic and global market data.

Key aspects of this position include: Providing hands-on technical
support of the firm's Domestic and International market data systems;
daily interaction with the development teams, vendors, business
analysts, quality assurance, operations, etc.; Ability to manage
multiple projects simultaneously.

*Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:*
* Support daily operations of the Global Market Data environment to
include the management and maintenance of all market data systems

* Ability to take ownership of real-time market data production issues
and provide a course of action to resolve problems while communicating
across the organization; Escalation of problems through internal
channels and external vendor

* Liaise with various teams to ensure market data components are
properly designed, delivered on time and within budget.

* Act as the technical point of contact for external market data vendors

* Implementation of new market data applications and upgrades

* Work within a team environment to develop and implement best practices

and procedures regarding the operations, support and utilization of
market data.

* Provide regular updates and reports detailing progress, status, issues

etc.

*Minimum experience includes:*
* Solid 3 to 5 years experience in a Market data role for both domestic
and international data types
* Minimum of 2 years of experience in IT
* At least 2 years of experience with Windows/Linux operating systems
* At least 2 years of experience with Network and real-time messaging
technologies
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
* At least 1 year of engineering / development experience with scripting

languages (PERL, Shell)
* Strong Market Data content knowledge to effectively respond,
investigate and follow requests, issues from end-users (e.g., traders
and client management). Examples of the content knowledge includes:
o Understanding of market data categories, identifiers, symbology e.g.,
Equities, RIC, Sedol, Cusip, Isin.
o Understanding of market data concepts, e.g., Quotes, permissioning,
level 1 quote and level 2 quote differences, basic structure of an order

book, different types of markets, etc.
* Understanding of equity trading and capital markets.
* Understanding of special conditions, e.g., trade halts, corporate
actions, IPO, stock splits, etc.
* Experience with market data content from direct exchanges
* Experience with market data vendor providers such as IDC, Reuters,
Bloomberg, etc
* Technical experience with data feed vendors.
* Understanding of ECNS, NYSE, NASDAQ, BB Tradebook, Instinet,
Archipelago Exchange, NYFIX, BATS, Spryware, Wombat
* Proficiency with MS Project, MS Office and MS Visio.

*Preferred Qualifications: *
* Ability to produce documentation pertaining to the data distribution
workflow.
* Fundamental Project management skills.
* Working knowledge of Reuters 3000 Xtra suite of products. Direct
exchange handlers
* Fundamental knowledge of networking & firewall functions (i.e.TCP/IP,
Multicast, subnetting, routing, FW concepts).
* Service oriented, positive, committed and enthusiastic team player
with a flexible `can do` approach to work.
* Prepared to take ownership and responsibility and step beyond
boundaries to work in unison with other teams with the goal of complete
resolution.
* Undergraduate degree in Computer Science preferred but not required.
