-- Day-to-day liaison between IT development and systems teams and key editorial, art, production, event, marketing, sales, delivery, and customer service stakeholders for Deal LLC technology projects and electronic product development
-- In collaboration with stakeholders, generate business case and functional requirements for electronic products and supporting editorial and business applications following Deal ROI guidelines and project management methodology
-- Manage new initiatives through product development review process to project launch, and manage cross-functional project lifecycle including design, development, testing, training, deployment, client satisfaction, and subsequent version updates
-- Develop and manage the product development and upgrade roadmap, including issues management system and minor/major enhancements in cross-functional weekly team meetings
-- Ownership of the product roadmap together with key technical, business, and editorial leaders, ensuring that the project team meets business goals by fostering cross-functional co-operation and timely project task completion
-- Lead quality assurance software testing process by testing applications against specifications and working with key business and editorial staff confirming expected functionality and ease of use
-- Support project team by writing and maintaining business plan documents, project plan, functional specifications, and user documentation
Key Relationships:
-- Strong stakeholder relationships with CEO, CIO, Executive Editors of New Media and Databases, Design Director, Manufacturing Director, VPs of Sales, Marketing, and Events, and Fulfillment Director.
-- Peer relationships with IT Directors of Development and Systems, partnering with them to provide business solutions aligned with overall company strategy, on time and on budget.
-- Reports to VP of Technology.
Qualifications & Experience:
-- Deep experience with web product development and technologies (Java/Solaris/Linux/WebLogic/Oracle), database development and technologies (data modeling, metadata), and search engine technologies and optimization (keyword and parametric searching, categorization, taxonomies)
-- Skilled business analyst/project manager with track record of success delivering ROI-based e-products and applications, including related business and editorial processes and applications, through the full project lifecycle
-- Experience with content management and editorial workflow systems within a publishing environment a plus but not required, especially Adobe InCopy/InDesign/K4, MoveableType, and FAST Search.
