Provides analysis, design, implementation and troubleshooting support for complex server and desktop technology. Must have expertise with various Linux distributions, including Suse, Redhat and Ubuntu. In addition candidate must have expertise with Windows and Mac Operating Systems. Responsible for supporting Linux cluster, creating and running scripts, monitoring devices, hardware and virtualization. Candidate must possess strong networking skills and be comfortable troubleshooting network issues. Support users in their effort to find, install, deploy and troubleshoot scientific software. Involvement in special projects and testing and deployment of new technologies. Interfaces with vendors, peer technical groups/staff and executive management.

We require: BA or BS degree, preferably in Computer Science or equivalent experience/certifications. 3-5 years experience in complex client server and internetworking environments. Requires expert knowledge of all major client NOS, applications, MS Office, MS/Access, SQL (relational) database technology and network/desktop hardware technologies. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with ability to work directly with all levels of staff and management. Proven vendor management and negotiation skills. Hours: 9:00AM-5:00PM, Monday-Friday, on-call 24/7/365 and the flexibility to handle last minute changes and special projects.
