JOB SUMMARY: Provides financial advisory and analytical services relative to the coordination and management of functional income, expenditures and special project activities. Develops and implements internal financial policies and procedures, and assists in the planning, forecasting, tracking/reporting and analysis of financial activity.
RELATIONSHIP: Reports to AVP, Investment Financial Operations and Reporting. Direct reports include financial and administrative staff as assigned.
Job Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Oversees the development, preparation, and implementation of financial policies and procedures for the Nationwide Investments.
a. Reviews and evaluates financial results in relationship to planned and long-range objectives, analyzes trends and provides forecasts for operating results as appropriate. Summarizes critical information in actionable for Investments Leadership Team (ILT).
2. Oversees the development, preparation and submission of financial reports for various constituents (ie. Senior Mgmt., Board of Directors, office of Finance).
3. Assists leadership in monitoring both strategic and financial results. Recommends and assists in the implementation of actions designed to prevent deviations from strategic direction.
4. Coordinates the accumulation and preparation of expense planning and reporting information for monthly, quarterly, yearly and ad-hoc processes.
5. Coordinates the development of the functional budget, assisting the department heads and field operations as necessary. Submits budget to leadership for approval
6. Oversees management of financial staff, including: performance management, salary planning and administration, training and development, workflow, organizational planning, hiring and placement, and disciplinary actions.
7. Conducts financial orientation and training to business operations to build their understanding of financials and to help link actions to financial results.
Job Requirements:
Education: Undergraduate degree in Finance, economics, accounting, statistics or Business Administration. MBA, CFA or Industry Designations preferred.
Experience: Five to Eight years of financial, investments, and/or accounting experience.
Knowledge: Advanced knowledge of budget and financial analysis techniques, and related business operations. Investment operational knowledge preferred as well as knowledge of administrative policies and procedures.
Skills/Competencies: Must have excellent oral and written communication skills with all levels of staff and management. Must have proven decision-making skills. Proven ability to coach, mentor, and motivate employees as well as the ability to set priorities, meet objectives and foster a diverse work environment and to evaluate and recommend solutions to business issues. Ability to drive for results, deal with ambiguity and conceptualize strategic objectives. Must be comfortable conducting financial seminars for traders and other staff members
