Requirements

• Ph.D. in the area of Plant Science with a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in an industry, government or academic lab focused on the application of quantitative genetics and genomics in crop breeding OR

• M.S. in the area of Plant Science with a minimum of 8 years of relevant experience in an industry, government or academic lab focused on the application of quantitative genetics and genomics in crop breeding

• Demonstrated experience in quantitative genetics, genetic mapping , marker-trait association, high-throughput genotyping

• Relevant experience with genotyping platforms and the application of statistical genetics

• Analytical skills in handling and analyzing large data sets efficiently

• Creative and flexible thinking, and the ability to adapt to changing priorities

• Proficient verbal, written, and presentation skills. Proficient in the application of next generation sequence analysis and statistical analysis software

 

Plusses

• PhD in the area of Plant Breeding and Genetics, experience in soybean and/or cotton is a plus

• Demonstrated experience using quantitative or statistical genetics for crop improvement (i.e. genomic prediction, association mapping, QTL mapping)

• Two years of experience with Next Gen Sequence Data Analysis diverse experience with sequence management, assembly and annotation, variant detection

• Diverse experience with large data-set management, and extensive and up-to-date knowledge of bioinformatics data sources, software and packages

• Strong statistical skills and experience with the R programming language and command-line computing

• Laboratory experience with high-density genotyping and Next Gen Sequencing

• Experience working in a high-performance research environment

• Demonstrated ability to work in a team environment and the ability to adapt to the atmosphere of a dynamic global research organization.
