Standard Job Description: Designs, analyzes, and tests optical and electro-optical systems and components. Conducts research and development into phases of physical optics and geometric optics, lasers, laser characteristics, laser maintenance, and broadband optical sources. Applies research of complex optical systems to achieve desired optical manipulations.

Specific Job Description: Experienced optical scientist to conceptualize, design, analyze, integrate, and test optical systems. Familiar with all phases of development of complex electro-optical systems and their transiting into working space hardware. Familiar with tools and techniques used in such development. Familiar with issues of planing, costing, scheduling, monioting, and tracking such efforts. Familiar with e-o component technologies and component suppliers. Will perform, as needed, either as an individual contributor or lead technical tasks. Will serve as an advisor to the management in the area of expertise. Will present results of work to peers, management, customer, or external technical community

Typical Minimums: Bachelors degree from an accredited college in a related discipline, or equivalent experience/combined education, with 9 years of professional experience; or 7 years of professional experience with a related Masters degree. Considered an emerging authority.
