Sr. Developer Java &/or C++

To: $120K Base, Bonus (at or above) 30%

Full Relocation

 

 

Specific Technical Knowledge and Experience Required:

·  Strong proven knowledge of Java w/5-7 years experience (C++ development also considered)

·  Strong proven knowledge Relation Database design and implementation. ERM, PL/SQL, performance tuning. Oracle and Sybase preferred.

·  Experience with JSP, J2EE & JMS required.

·  Strong proven knowledge of Client-server/Multi-tier systems design and implementation, GUI development concepts advantageous.

·  Experience with XML, SAX, DOM, SOAP & Web services

·  Knowledge of UNIX & NT environments, Sun Solaris preferred.

·  5+ years of related experience desirable.  College degree in Information Systems or related discipline required.

·  Ability to lead teams of Developers including mentoring, code & design reviews

·  Strong architecture knowledge and a proven track record of taking systems from design to production and supporting through multiple release cycles

·  Solid understanding of the full Software development lifecycle, understanding of continuous integration, unit, and load testing also required

 

Specific Business Knowledge and Experience Required:

·  Has business and technical knowledge of investment processes.  Uses solid business knowledge to develop rapid, proactive solutions for significant business issues. 

·  Clearly understands purposes, objectives, practices, and procedures of the department and business units.

·  Maintains a solid knowledge of corporate and departmental information system strategies.

·  Demonstrates proficiency in systems analysis of business requirements.

·  Has advanced written and oral communication skills to make technical or non-technical material understandable to the business units, to make presentations to management and other personnel, and to conduct meetings and training sessions.

·  Proven knowledge of FIX, SWIFT and other Financial network interfaces/protocols is  required 

 

Specific Projects and Support:

·  Electronic Trade Confirmation and Matching Engine (ETC)

·  Settlements Re-engineering

·  Trade Instruction Processing

 

 

Develops detailed system design and programming specifications on assigned development and support projects.  Implements other tasks required for the development, implementation and continuing operation of various systems.  Programs supported range from above average complexity to very complex.

Supports the daily activity of the Business Areas by creating and maintaining custom reports and programs and by providing technical support for system and software issues.  Regularly meets with the project manager and group manager to review progress and problems related to the job.

 

Responsibilities/Duties:

·  Ability to work in a high pressure team environment with minimal supervision.

·  Work closely with business partners and systems personnel to identify and develop new processes and/or systems, change current processes to enhance their effectiveness, or eliminate processes that are not justified.

·  In support of recommended changes, coordinates computer system modifications and development processes. Produces project documentation including formal proposals and schedules, system requirements and testing plans.

·  Communicates system changes and processes to appropriate personnel, documenting as necessary.

·  Performs analysis and diagnostics related to system failures and discrepancies.  Evaluates, recommends and implements recovery solutions.  Communicates discrepancies determined in testing to impacted areas and monitors resolution.

·  Designs and tests systems and/or systems changes accurately to insure system efficiency, integrity, productivity and maintainability.

·  Recognizes and establishes appropriate, individual goals and priorities that coordinate with the business areas and other organizational units and resources.
