 The principal responsibilities are to provide technical trading support to the proprietary algorithmic trading desk within the bank. This consists of overseeing and correcting data used in several trading strategies and monitoring automated trading systems throughout the day to detect any errors.  In addition, there will be a variety of responsibilities in systems analysis and design, including analyzing user requirements, procedures and problems to develop and enhance automated systems.  In particular, the individual will be required to focus on developing, modifying and maintaining applications as well as coding, testing and documenting programs to support various asset classes.  End of day reporting of trading activity will be an additional daily requirement. The position is within a front-office proprietary trading group which supports markets in the Americas, Europe and the Pacific Rim at Merrill Lynch.

The academic requirement for the post is a bachelor's degree in science. Strong computing skills are essential, with emphasis placed on advanced proficiency in scripting within a production environment like Perl or Shell scripting and the ability to work in LINUX/UNIX. The associate will work closely with traders to understand business needs in detail.

In addition to first-rate intellectual skills, the associate is expected to demonstrate an excellent work ethic and versatility in delivering both short and long term technical solutions in a faced-paced environment.
