Job Title:	Unix/Linux Server Operator
Salary Range:	80K – 90K

Basic Function:

Provide operational support for 5000+ Solaris/HP-UX/RedHat/SuSe Servers.  Candidate will provide support of Unix/Linux Systems by responding to Remedy Trouble Tickets, Help Desk and Hotline calls.  Responsibilities also include configuration changes, server patching, and application support.

 

These individuals will work with other groups to ensure automation and alerts monitoring of all systems are maintained.  They are also responsible to ensure that documentation on process and procedures are available and updated regularly.

Primary Responsibility:

1.	75%	Respond/Troubleshoot proactive system alerts/phone calls.
2.	10%	Document Operational Process/Procedures.
3.	5%	Actively assist the application support teams in the resolution of escalated application issues.
4.	5%	Attend Daily Change Control Meeting.
5.	5%	Coordinate with CXO business units to obtain maintenance windows to replace hardware/make configuration changes.

Skills Required:

·         Must have at least three - five years experience supporting Distributed Technologies systems.

·         Must have B.S. or equivalent (i.e. job experience) in Computer Science or related discipline.

·         Must have thorough technical understanding of Distributed Technologies systems architecture.

·         Must have a strong understanding of business systems development.

·         Must have excellent problem solving skills.

·         Must be able to work under pressure and in a fast paced environment.

Business Need:

The Unix/Linux Server Operations position is required to support the production infrastructure of the specific business units’ Distributed Technologies systems.  Fulfillment of this position is required to provide operational support coverage as agreed in our Service Level Agreement with the CXO’s.
