Business Analyst – Settlements

Required:  Good written communication skills.  Oracle/Database, SQL.

Desired:  UML, Rational Process, exposure to Settlements Processing & STP.

 

Business Analyst will create strategic partnerships in an effort to provide technological innovations, tools and support for our Settlements business unit .  Will provide in-depth analysis of user needs and contribute toward application design efforts for fixed income settlements proprietary applications.  Identifies complex business requirements, evaluates alternative solutions and translates solutions into specifications suitable for the development or maintenance of asset management systems. Coordinates development teams on large and/or complex projects. Translates end user computing requirements for use by the Corporate Technology Department. Develops and implements test plans. Communicates with team, customers and vendors when changes occur. Acts as a mentor to junior staff members. Helps management to determine overall priorities.

 

 

Responsibilities/Duties:

 

§      Responsible for production and development efforts involving quantitative models, portfolio construction tools, and risk management systems supporting the fixed income investment process.  

§      Work closely with members of specific business units the Risk Analytics, Quantitative Fixed Income and Fixed Income Portfolio Management Groups to and identifies complex business requirements, evaluates alternative solutions and translates solutions into specifications suitable for the development or maintenance of asset management systems.

§      Coordinates development teams on large and/or complex projects. Translates end user computing requirements for use by the IT Development team. .Handles multiple applications development projects.

§      Produces project documentation including formal proposals and schedules, system requirements and testing plans.

§      Works with business partners and systems personnel to identify new business workflow or change current processes to enhance their effectiveness.

§      Communicates system changes and processes to appropriate personnel, documenting any processes as necessary.

§      Communicates discrepancies determined in testing to impacted areas and monitors resolution.

§      Designs and tests systems and/or system changes accurately to insure system efficiency, integrity, productivity and maintainability.

§      Sets appropriate goals and priorities that coordinate with the business areas and other organizational units and resources.

 

 

Competencies:

Business Knowledge and Experience Required:

 

·        Knowledge of asset management principles and skills associated with domestic and international investment management process.  

·        Understands purposes, objectives, practices, and procedures of the department and business units within fixed income environment.  

·        Maintains a solid knowledge of corporate and departmental information system strategies.

·        Possess good written and oral communication skills to make technical or non-technical material understandable to business units, make presentations to management and other personnel, and to conduct meetings and training sessions. 

·        Client-server concepts, 3 tier architecture concepts preferred and GUI development concepts

·        Knowledge of all phases of the Software Development Life Cycle

·        Knowledge of 3 years of involvement with fixed income investment practices

·        Knowledge of or 3 years experience in the design, testing of financial or fixed income quantitative applications or models

·        Experience with Oracle/Databases

·        Experience with SQL

·        Experience and knowledge of UML, Rational Process desired

·        Exposure to Settlements Processing & STP are desired
