BUSINESS UNIT OVERVIEW:

Electronic and algorithmic trading has witnessed explosive growth in various businesses including FX, Structured Products, and Equity Derivatives, and this emphasizes our need for high-performance, high-volume automated trading systems. To address this surge, we are in the process of re-engineering several of our systems/processes. The many areas we focus on include: Development of reliable trading desktop and scalable messaging systems, improving post trade services, and an extensible client-facing and internal application toolset.

Client Web Technology group  is responsible for designing, building and supporting systems to run the various electronic trading businesses. These applications are used for trading a wide array of products ranging from vanilla FX spot-forwards to exotic structured derivatives on major and emerging markets. We serve a global clientele.

The team plays a key role in providing solutions for real time price delivery, trade capture, providing analytics, order management and other aspects of trade flow. Developers work closely with the traders, sales people, operational, and strategies personnel at all levels.

Given the firms drive towards automation and E-Trading, this role will provide many challenging and rewarding opportunities for the analyst/developer.


ROLE SUMMARY:

The Analyst/Developer will be involved with all stages of the software development cycle. The applicant will be required to:

-Work with the traders, salespeople and strategists from several locations to define requirements for new business initiatives, applications or enhancements to existing tools.
-Create robust technical infrastructure to deliver efficient and scalable applications for traders/sales force.
-Implement, review and test software built for the trading/sales desk.
-Participate and contribute in design sessions.
-Produce maintainable, well documented software.
-Provide day-to-day support of new and existing applications. Support is a key part of the job and requires an outgoing individual to foster relationships with the user community.


EXPERIENCE/SKILLS:

*Required*
-At least 5 years of total application development experience
-At least 3 years of application development experience with Core Java.
-Strong understanding of multithreaded and distributed applications.
-Experience with communication protocols
-Experience developing commercial real-time applications.
-Good communication skills to work with business developers across various product lines.
-Object-oriented analysis and design.
-Good problem solving and analytical skills.

*Preferred*
-Experience with Tomcat, Apache, Perl, JavaScript.
-Prior experience/knowledge of C# application development.
-Experience with Sybase and SQL a plus


QUALIFICATIONS:

-At least 5 years of work experience.
-A degree in CS/EE with strong academic performance in a rigorous program.
-Strong communication and interpersonal skills are a must given that the role involves liaising with traders and salespeople.
-Excellent analytical and problem solving skills.
-The firm and the department are very focused on using technology to increase profitability, so it is critical that the person in this role is willing and able to adapt to different technologies to achieve that goal.
