• Administer SAN equipment
• Administering, maintaining and tuning Windows servers (95/98, NT 4.0, 2000, 2003) in a 24x7 production environment
• Administering, maintaining and tuning Enterprise Linux servers and application in a 24x7 production environment
• Basic configuration and monitoring of the LAN and WAN connectivity
• Create and maintain thorough server and application documentation
• Recommend hardware requirements for production applications
• Liaise with Development and DBA staff on server requirements and issues
• Maintain strict software licensing compliance when installing or removing software.
• Ensure that service delivery and system functionality address requirements and service levels of a global client base
Qualifications
• 7+ years related work experience. B.S. or equivalent preferred
• Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Windows Server, Active Directory, Group Policy and related components
• Advanced knowledge of Linux, SAN/NAS and networking
• Working knowledge of MS SQL databases
• Experience with IIS, Apache, Java, Tomcat and SSL
• Knowledge of a scripting language, preferably VBScript or Perl
• Knowledge of TCP/IP, DNS and networking concepts
• Ability to automate tasks using the aforementioned tools and technologies
• Experience managing large application servers in production environments
• Ability to work independently with minimal direction on complex new initiatives
• Ability to differentiate between system, application, database or network problems
• Basic understanding of the data management technologies and of digital media
• Skilled in priority recognition and time management
• Ability to exercises broad judgment and tackle complex issues in creative ways and with minimal oversight
• Good oral, written, and phone communication skills
• Well organized with attention to detail
