Description:
Work with all Services and Operations departments to identify risks that arise from inadequate or failed internal processes, people, systems, or external events, as well as assisting the departments in developing reasonable policies, procedures, and controls to mitigate those risks.
Will also develop testing strategies and evaluate the design and operating effectiveness of policies, procedures, processes, systems and internal controls. Create clear documentation to support the testing results and related conclusions, report observations to business unit management, and consult with management to develop appropriate corrective action plans to effectively address identified issues. This may include developing business cases to demonstrate the need for risk mitigation. The Consultant may provide operational risk and control consulting for projects and initiatives with moderate to high risk.
Basic Qualifications
2+ years in compliance or operational risk mgmt. (includes audit, legal, credit risk, market risk, or the management of a process or business with accountability for compliance or operational risk) and 2+ years in one or more of the following: compliance, operational risk mgmt., IT systems security, business process mgmt. or financial services, or a Bachelor's or advanced degree in business or economics.
- At least 3 years of experience in audit, internal control review/testing, or Sarbanes-Oxley testing.
- Strong relationship-building skills with the ability to engage and influence others towards achieving common business goals.
- Strong interpersonal and communications skills
- Demonstrated analytical, problem-solving, and time management skills.
Preferred Skills
Brokerage or financial services experience, with a focus in audit or internal control review/testing.
Working knowledge of operations functions/services in the financial services or brokerage industry.
Undergraduate degree in business, finance, or accounting.
Experience in dealing with FINRA and SEC rules and regulations, as they apply to financial and operational issues.
Skilled working in dynamic and demanding environments while responding appropriately to rapid change and imperfect information.
Exercise sound judgment and proactively escalate issues along with recommendations for successful resolution.
