REQUIREMENTS:
• Academic degree (MD PhD) in biology, (bio)chemistry, microbiology and outstanding achievements/records in BCS R&D focus areas
• Broad knowledge and longstanding successful experience in Agriculture R&D management (at least 10 years)
• Broad knowledge and overview of Planning and Portfolio management
• Strong strategic thinking and solid understanding of the agriculture R&D and business landscape and adjacent industries (Supply and Food, Healthcare, Machinery, etc)
• Outstanding experience in innovation and partnership management
• Strong team leadership skills and proven experience to work with various stakeholders within an organization
• Excellent oral and written communication, moderation, presentation and influencing skills
• Excellent organizational and portfolio management skills
• Relationship management skills, comfortable around a diverse set of people
Performs competitive analyses to identify partnering options and does support open innovation approaches for the assigned R&D function/indication. Manage multiple interfaces and acts as a key point of contact to guide and evaluate the external partnering requests and scouting activities and drives the decision to partner in close contact with the R&D function/indication and Business Development and Licensing.
Oversee the portfolio of partnerships, and further develops the partnering portfolio of a function/indication towards defined goals (achievement of milestones and pipeline contributions) along the principles of alliance management excellence and corporate compliance and plans and tracks the function/indication partnering budget.
Position Responsibilities:
• Develop and implement partnering and Open Innovation strategy jointly with the respective assigned R&D function/indication and the Business Units
• Identify the key targets for partnerships/alliances and define a tier prioritization for the portfolio(s)
• Manage multiple interfaces and coordinate tactics for scouting and scientific evaluation of the best opportunities based on defined valuation metrics that can meet technology/product need
• Pro-actively seek the right expertise and R&D portfolio managers to assess new opportunities towards an integrated R&D approach
• Identify the most added value partner options in close cooperation with the respective R&D function/indication and in alignment with the integrated R&D strategy, the key innovation networks and open innovation approaches
• Ensure timely implementation of partnering portfolio according to the tier prioritization. Pro-actively identify gaps and/or pitfalls and identify solutions
• Oversee the partnering portfolio and further develop the portfolio of the respective R&D function/indication to meet R&D targets and technology gaps
• Collaborate to major strategic alliance negotiations together with legal, BD&L provide overall oversight for advisory board meetings of functions
• Implement and further develop excellence in Alliance management and establish trustful relationship to both internal stakeholders and external partners Planning and tracking of function/indication(s) partnering budget and ensure timely reporting to the R&D function/indications and leadership teams
• Present partnering activities of function/indication in management meetings and at external conferences.
