FUNCTIONAL TITLE: Senior Windows Systems Administrator
SALARY: $95-105K

LOCATION: NYC

HOURS: Mon - Fri 9AM-5PM

POSITION OVERVIEW/MAIN DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE ROLE:
Duties include:
* Combination of on-site and 24x7 on-call technical support
* Server backup management
o Backup job change/add/delete
o Assist application teams to determine backup requirements
o Daily review of reports to determine the status and health of
the
backup infrastructure
o Incident management and troubleshooting of issues affecting the
backup
infrastructure
o Manage projects associated with changes/upgrades to the backup
infrastructure
o Automating various tasks associated with backup administration
o Develop status reports to determine backup infrastructures
capacity,
health, and volume on a periodic basis. Information to be used for
planning and proactive remediation purposes.
o Create and update backup support documentation
o Light training of other staff
* Server provisioning activities
* Remedy problem resolution, management and escalation
* Service request fulfillment, management and escalation

REQUIRED TECHNICAL SKILLS & WORK EXPERIENCE

Degree from accredited 4 year college/university in a computer
technology field is highly desired. The position will be primarily
responsible for all aspects of our enterprise backup system - covering
both hardware and software. All candidates must have 3+ years of
experience with Veritas NetBackup to version 6.x, McData and Brocade
switches (or like technologies), Tape-less backup technologies, STK tape

libraries, and Quantum tape libraries. Secondary responsibilities will
include server provisioning, server administration, and problem
mitigation activities.

In addition to backup technologies, candidates must have at least 2+
years experience with the following technologies:
Hardware: x86 based servers (Compaq, HP, IBM), various raid disk
subsystems manufactured by Compaq, IBM and Hewlett Packard, Sun
Microsystems server hardware
Operating System: Microsoft Windows Server
Other: Microsoft office suite, Veritas Backup Exec, Perl, BMC Patrol,
Legatto Networker, Remedy incident management system, one or more system

monitoring products such as Netcool or BMC Patrol, scripting/programming

skills a must (Visual Basic, C, Perl)

Desired skills include:
Hardware: Digital Alpha, EMC Symmetric, EMC Connectrix
Operating Systems: Digital UNIX, Sun Solaris and Red Hat Linux
Other: Lotus Notes, Sybase, Oracle, SAMBA, PC_NFS, MY SQL
