Base to $120K  Bonus (at or above) 30%

 

Financial Services Trading Environment is Very Strongly Preferred

 

SYBASE DATABASE DEVELOPMENT  -

Responsible for Sybase Development efforts for Advanced Trading Platform projects

 Develops detailed system design and programming specifications on assigned SYBASE projects. Supports the daily activity of the Business Areas by providing technical support for system issues. Regularly meets with the IT project lead to review progress and problems related to the job.

 

 

Responsibilities/Duties:

 

§      Will work with IT project lead on Sybase Development including writing stored procedures, triggers for highly complex fixed income applications and Perl Scripts.  

§      Produces technical documentation and designs and tests systems and/or systems changes accurately to insure system efficiency, integrity, productivity and maintainability

§      Provide post-implementation support and develop future, iterative system releases

 

 

Competencies:

 

§      In depth knowledge of Sybase; has worked with/exposure to new features of Sybase 12.

§      Good SQL development skills; must be able to write complex queries.

§      Expert level abilities with performance tuning of queries in Sybase.

§      Expert level with stored proceedures, triggers, views, cursors, indexes etc.

§      Experience with design work (i.e., logical design). (Basic knowledge of normalization)

§      Strong skills and proven experience in writing perl script/Unix scripts to extract data from different systems. i.e. Oracle, Sybase etc.

§      Strong knowledge Windows Scripting/Batch Programming highly desired.

§      Uses solid business knowledge to develop rapid proactive solutions for significant business issues. Clearly understands purposes, objectives, practices, and procedures of the department and business units

§      Knowledge of Java Client-server concepts, (3 tier architecture concepts preferred), and GUI development (Java Swing preferred) concepts required

 

 

Academic Qualifications (minimum requirements):

College degree in related discipline; significant technology experience in the financial services industry is strongly preferred.
