Role Title: Project Manager
Reports to: Manager of Professional Services, US

This is a very long description. The short story:

Project manager with practical experience with front office and middle
office, or middle office and back office. This person is the key person
in the transition from sales to implementation of the client's products.

He/She takes ownership of the project and works with the customer's
project teams. Projects last from 6 months to a year, and could be
anywhere in the North or South America or the Caribbean. Travel is
usually Mon-Thursday, with Friday in the NYC office. Candidates must be
based in the New York area.

Strong working knowledge in Unix/Windows environment, required.

They would love to see candidates out of companies such as Charles River
Development, Calypso, Sungard, XRT, etc.

Salary: to 130K, plus bonus.

Main Purpose of the Role
The client develops and markets leading edge treasury, risk,
forecasting, cash management, and accounting sub-ledger software for
corporates, governments and financial institutions, asset managers, and
debt management offices worldwide. The company is fast paced and has
customers across the world. The organization balances product and
customer orientation. Its members tend to be multifaceted and enjoy
difficult challenges.

Creating and managing efficient project teams is fundamental to the way
the client operates, they take pride in their excellent client support
staff, and their optimal allocation is imperative.

A (Senior) Project Manager is an integral part of their Client Relations
Department. He works closely with clients and the client's staff to
ensure the highest level of client satisfaction.
His main role is to co-ordinate and monitor project teams implementing
highly specialized financial software. He ensures a timely completion of
implementation projects within budget limits

Key Accountabilities
* To prepare project plans for financial software implementation
projects. (goals, activities, schedules, resource allocation, etc.)
* To manage projects of up to and in excess of one years duration
of
between 1000 and 5,000 man days, with medium to high business complexity
and significant cultural challenges.
* To lead, plan, and coordinate project activities and meetings as
well
as project progress reports
* To produce the deliverables according to what is stated in the
project
definition document (within time, budget and with the required quality).
* To ensure control by setting and maintaining cost, time tracking
and
reporting, and resource management.
* To give advise of risks and to plan backup actions
* To ensure that The client provides competent resources to the
project
* Provide direction and leadership to the The client and their
customer's project teams, and acting in the best interests of The client
and the project.
* Liaise between customer, the project team, and other Of the
client
departments to ensure early planning, swift escalations, problem
resolutions and software correction when needed. Driving, documenting
and maintaining the project plan, ensuring that the plan is adequately
resourced, ensuring that the project team and other relevant parties
work to the plan, evaluating and managing risk, applying appropriate
change control whenever relevant, and keeping track of the financials.
* To build and sustain ongoing relationships of openness and trust
with
clients, and respond appropriately to political issues in the client's
organisation ; to continuously inform client project manager of
problems, changes to the project plan, resource needs etc.
* To provide client with information necessary to achieve project
goals
and analytical support in implementing our products.
* To inform all interested parties and maintain information flow
* To consult on the re-engineering of clients' business processes
in
relation to Finance KIT
* To understand the project scope and to maintain change
management
implementation
* To assist the sales teams with pre-sales consultation and with
determining software configuration requirements
* To participate in designing new features for our product line
* To improve the development process and ensure quality and
timeliness ;
to give input to R&D team about new features for software products.
* Work with sales to ensure appropriate customer expectations
management
at all times. In particular, assist sales teams with scoping and
selling the project and the preparation of contractual documentation
pertaining to the project.
* Actively searching for new opportunities inside and outside of
the
current client. Maintaining senior clients relationships long term, and
leveraging these relationships for the benefit of sales.
* Acting as a mentor and role model for The client's staff onsite,

setting high standards of professional behavior. Providing support and
encouragement to the team, involving line managers and HR as required.
Giving particular support to new and junior team members. The client
places great emphasis on staff retention and does not allow project
staff to be burn-out or put under undue pressure.
Functional responsibilities include:
* People responsibility (size): no direct people management
responsibility as project teams are often assembled from different
organizations. However, all resources assigned to the project are and
work under the responsibility of the project manager on a daily basis
during the whole duration of the project.
* Revenue/budget responsibility: Typical project sizes will be >
$1m.
The project manager has full responsibility for the project financials
and profitability.
* Customers & Partners (frequency of contact, specific authority):
Daily
contacts. Expected to attend regular senior steering committees. We
expect the successful candidate to have a high level of personal
credibility and authority as a result of their business competence and
experience.
* Process responsibility: The allocation of resources within the
project, the request for new resources, the management of the project
budget, the approval of all project change orders (subject to mandate),
the approval of any project billing activity and of all project
expenses.
* Planning responsibility: The definition of a project plan,
scoping,
financial model and activity tracker

Required experience

The Project Manager is expected to have the following Experience;
* A minimum of 2-3 years of similar working experience in the
financial
industry, preferably working for a large corporate treasury, bank, or
investment management firm or alternatively big consulting company
* Experience with delivering software based solutions and
implementing
Treasury System
* Experience in different levels of demanding projects, with a
proven
track record in project management
* Understanding of financial markets
* International working experience and intercultural awareness is
preferred

The Senior Project Manager is expected to have the following Experience;
* Must have completed a minimum of three full lifecycle
implementations
in excess of 1000 man days effort. For more senior roles, five
implementations of not less than 1000 man days and where one project
exceeded 3000 man days.
* Experience of working in unfamiliar cultures and locations, and
adapting style and approach to the context.
* Ten years of experience in treasury and capital markets,
preferably
working for a systems integrator, a significant management consulting
company, or as a specialist for a treasury software company. This can
also extend to senior employment with a leading financial institution /
the group treasury department of a large multinational where candidates
held a leading role in the implementation of treasury and capital market
systems, or investment management firm; or alternatively big consulting
company.
* Proven leadership qualifications with a minimum of 2-3 years
post
qualification.
* Must have operated at client senior management and board level,
able
to represent The client diplomatically and effectively.
* Proven and evident ability to deliver business benefits on time
and in
budget with high degrees of customer satisfaction.
* Extensive experience with delivering software based solutions
and
implementing Treasury System.
* Extensive experience in different levels of demanding projects,
with a
proven track record in project management
* Experience of implementing full development life cycle.
* Thorough understanding and long experience from
Finance/Corporate
Treasury Business.
* Understanding of financial markets
* IT experience.
* Thorough understanding of treasury functions within a Corporate
Treasury.
* Previous team leadership.
* Certification as a project manager is a plus (PMP, etc.)
* International working experience and intercultural awareness is
preferred

2) Hard skills
2.1 General
* Strong working knowledge in information systems, specifically
UNIX/Windows NT environments

2.2 Client-specific
* Understanding of technologies and business problems as well as
product
implementation and integration.
* Knowledge of The client's products
* Knowledge and experience form the financial industry


Required education
* Fluent in English, other languages are a big advantage.
* Degree, ideally in Finance or an MBA, or in computer sciences
* Formal project management training likely. Need to provide
evidence
of formal project management training, incl. "on-the-job" training.
* A M. Sc. in engineering or business administration is required.

Work environment
The job is located in New York; Travelling is required.
