Role Title: Senior/Technical Consultant

Salary to 110K + bonus

The short story:
Position is based out of the NYC office.
There will be extensive travel, Mon-Thur, and in the NYC office on
Friday.

In short, this is the person who goes in and installs the products,
designs & develops interfaces and reports and configures the workflow.
Must have technical skills are Perl or Python or Bash, SQL, some Unix
and Windows sys admin knowledge.

Some pre-sales support, too.

Projects go from 6 mos. to a year.

The long story:
Main Purpose of the Role
The client develops and markets leading edge treasury, risk,
forecasting, cash management, and accounting sub-ledger software for
corporations, governments and financial institutions, asset managers,
and debt managers with global reach. The company is fast paced and has
customers across the world. The organization balances product and
customer orientation. Its members tend to be multifaceted and enjoy
challenges.

As part of a software implementation team, the Technical Consultant
analyzes customer requirements for highly specialized financial software
functionality, implements software functionality that meets these
requirements, writes technical specifications for customer specific
development items, installs the software in the customer's technical
environment and helps customers tune the system for maximum efficiency.

Key Accountabilities

The Technical Consultant's responsibilities are to:

* Installation and upgrade of The client's software.
* Modifications to the system being installed as well as
specification,
development and documentation of client specific customizations and
interfaces.
* Hardware sizing and solution appreciation for potential new
customers/
installations.
* Understanding and analysis of the clients' business processes
and
review of customers' procedures for maintaining their installation of
The client's products.
* Participate in product development and quality assurance for
tasks and
deliverables.
* To provide analytical, technical support and consultation to
customer
and internally to customer support and documentation teams.
* To manage and consistently meet client expectations within the
scope
of the client's project role, to build and sustain ongoing relationships
with clients.
* To participate in client and partner training.
* To provide pre-sales technical consultation, by preparing and
taking
part in sales workshops and presentations and developing software
routines for demonstration environments.
* Build and sustain ongoing relationships of openness and trust
with
clients, and respond appropriately to political issues in the client's
organization.
* Participate in client and partner and internal staff training.

Scope of management
* No staff management duties for Technical Consultant.
* A Technical Consultant has to mentor clients technical staff

Work environment
The job is located in New York, USA, with extensive travel in the
Americas and potentially other regions.

Required education

* Qualified candidates have an academic degree M. Sc. in software
engineering or computer science or several years technical experience
managing computers or software development, or equivalent combination of
education experience.

Required experience

The Technical Consultant is expected to have the following Experience;

* 4-5 years system administration (UNIX) or software development
experience.

* 1-3 years experience in administrating or programming relational

database system e.g. Sybase, MS-SQL Server or Oracle.

* Experience with web server technologies, Corba programming, or
MQ
Series is regarded a plus.

* A proven track record in large project work is valuable.

* Working experience in the financial industry in a corporate
treasury
or a financial institution is regarded a plus.

* Experience and track record with companies such as Sungard,
Advent,
Simcorp, Thomson Financial and Bloomberg is of interest to The client.

Required skills and knowledge
1) Soft skills

* Good organizational and time management skills and the ability
to
adhere to processes.

* Ability to work with minimal direction, to manage multiple tasks

simultaneously, and to work well under pressure.

* Ability to be self-motivated, strongly service minded and a good
team
player even in stressful situations.

* Able to communicate effectively across all business functions
and
capable of communicating technical issued effectively to non technical
people as well as understanding requirements given by customers and
business consultants.

* Good interpersonal skills.

* Ability to work in multi cultural group, sensitive to cultural
differences.

* Ability to cope in a dynamic, changing environment and
availability to
react positively to changes in workload, priorities and plans.

* Must be prepared to travel extensively.

* Excellent spoken and written English, additional languages are
an
asset.Communication and presentation skills (provide clear, concise
answers and good documentation of the customers' set-up).

2) Hard skills
2.1 General

* Extensive Computer skills are required:
o Unix system administration (Solaris, HP UX, or Linux).
o Windows system administration.
o Administration of relational database management systems
(Sybase,
MS-SQL Server or Oracle). Oracle is preferred.
o Programming skills in at least one of the following languages
C/C++/Java.
o Programming skills of scripting languages (Perl, Python, bash)
o Programming in SQL
o Web server technologies
* Valuable to have understanding of treasury functions within a
corporate treasury or a financial institution.
* Knowledge of the Financial Markets is desirable, a plus if
person has
a specialist area such as having worked with other Treasury and
Portfolio Management systems.
* Knowledge and experience from the financial industry
* Knowledge of The client's products is an asset
