Sub Prime Mortgage Analyst, Los Angeles vicinity

 

Sub-Prime Mortgage Analyst who is conducting analysis at the POOL LEVEL (not the individual level.)

 

This is a top priority and will move quickly. 1-5 years experience doing this. Will relocate, but there are some Southern CA firms (talk to me about who they are!) They will pay what the market says. Here’s the spec:

Job Description:

Research market models and performance data, build default and prepayment models, specify and prototype products for risk management consistent with (the company’s) subprime, mortgage back securities.

 

Responsibilities/Duties:

Develop and implement credit-related projects, modeling the credit risk set-up and credit enhancement of structured transactions and flow insurance products, as well as validating and documenting results. Work collaboratively to support the development of sub-prime portfolio management and portfolio analysis tools for the mortgage portfolio. Collaborate with pricing/finance and sales & marketing deal teams across departments as needed. Performs all other related duties as assigned.

 

competencies:

1-5 years of relevant work experience at a mortgage insurer, bank or other financial institution focusing on subprime collateral origination/servicing/portfolio analysis/MBS issuance. Excellent financial, mathematical and statistical skills. Experience with, comfortable using rating agency model use and output. Coursework and/or work experience related to MBS/ABS, Economic Capital. Advanced proficiency in programming  Excel VBA, SQL. Strong attention to detail, analytical and problem solving ability. Excellent communication and leadership skills.  Able to work and communicate with all levels within the organization.

 

Academic Qualifications (minimum requirements):

Minimum BS in Financial Engineering, Finance, Economics/Econometrics, Statistics or closely related field. Graduate degree preferred; MA, MS, or MBA.  Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) or Certified Risk Professional (CRP) certification or similar experience strongly preferred.
