Financial Analyst

The Company is seeking a financial analyst to immediately join its corporate finance team in the New York office. The Company is an investment banking and financial advisory firm focused exclusively on the healthcare industry. With over 40 bankers and traders, The Company has one of the largest investment banking teams dedicated to the healthcare industry.

  

The Financial Analyst will work on small, focused deal teams on mergers & acquisitions, private placements, fairness opinions, valuations, and bankruptcy/restructurings.  Small deal team staffing provides an excellent opportunity for senior-level client exposure.

 

Candidates should have one to two years of relevant experience. The duties include but are not limited to the following:

·  Draft offering memoranda, prepare internal committee memoranda, and create management and board presentations

·  Perform comprehensive valuations of private and public companies including discounted cash flow, comparable company, precedent transactions, return on invested capital, and merger consequence analyses

·  Maintain proprietary databases used in research and corporate valuation functions

·  Research industry news for current financial trends as well as for weekly firm newsletter

·  Provide overall transaction team support

·  Help manage relationships with other professional firms and trade groups

Candidate must be a team player and ready to work in a demanding environment. Excellent potential to move up within the company to an Associate position and beyond.

REQUIREMENTS

·  One or  two years of relevant  experience in investment banking, accounting, private equity, corporate development, finance or consulting

·  Strong educational background with a Bachelors degree and a minimum 3.5 cumulative GPA

·  Proficient with Excel, Power Point, and Word

·  Excellent analytical skills, including accounting fundamentals

·  Strong work ethic

·  Excellent oral and written communication skills

·  Must be willing to travel when necessary

·  Series 7 license preferred

The Private Client Group is made up of six regions overseeing 472 branches, 6000 financial advisors and $415 billion in assets. The Director of National Operations will be responsible for the operational function for the PCG branch network. This person will directly supervise the day-to-day activities of the six Regional Operations Managers and indirectly manage a large operations staff in the PCG branches to ensure consistent and efficient execution of the firm’s operational policies and procedures. Other responsibilities include:

• Providing feedback to PCG Administration regarding various initiatives including operational efficiency projects, client service enhancements, client pricing and fee/debit reviews, technology rollouts and training on operational matters.
• Implementation of these initiatives as required.
• Identification of opportunities to improve client satisfaction by changing processes, rolling out new technology and building a more talented and engaged regional and branch operations team.
• Acting as the escalation point for issues regarding operations and technology for the regional offices, in partnership with the Business Services Group (enterprise operations) and the Regional Presidents.

The Candidate:
The ideal candidate will demonstrate leadership competencies with a strong emphasis on creating vision and direction, executing on strategy and communicating effectively. Specific requirements include

• 10+ years of direct, relevant and recent experience in a senior role (5+ years of leadership experience) with operations responsibility, leading the implementation of complex and large organizational change through influence rather than authority.

• Demonstrated experience and business acumen necessary to create the right vision and direction for the operations organization.

• Proven ability to know when to “stay the course” with strategies that make good long term sense, but also recognizing when it is time to change.

• Documented experience creating a high performance environment by consistently and constantly communicating vision and strategy and connecting that to team member’s individual performance. Also the ability to interact with associates at all levels within the organization and engage in constructive conflict will be necessary for success in this role.

• Significant knowledge of operations, client service and technology in a retail brokerage environment.

• Series 7, 8 (9/10) licenses required, Series 24 license preferred.

Candidate Must Have :

About the Pricing Group:
The Pricing Group is responsible for doing the valuations of derivatives securities globally The Pricing team must deal with Operations and P&L on a daily basis to resolve pricing issues and are soon moving into selling Risk Management Services (to be released this year).

 

Description:

·         Prepare market data prices necessary for pricing

·         Researching markets using Bloomberg and Reuters

·         Follow up and resolve questions on derivatives setups

·         Independent valuation of clients’ derivatives holdings

·         Resolve valuation differences on the derivatives with account managers/clients

·         Other duties as assigned

 

Qualifications required:

·         Ideal candidate will be quantitative in nature with a Masters/MBA/PhD in

Computer Science, Computer Programming or Financial Engineering.

·         At least 4-6+ yrs experience in hedge funds, derivatives valuation and risk management require

·         Prior experience in engineering, risk management, trading, corporate finance or the sciences will be considered

·         Experience in Mortgaged backed securities, Credit Default Swaps, etc. a big plus

Description:

The BA will be part of the UAT Team and will participate in analyzing the current business function of our applications as well as internal and client needs.  Once trained, candidate will participate in product initiatives where he/she will research/gather requirements for new functionality and/or make changes to the old, present those requirements, suggest requirements where possible, and thoroughly test the end result that we receive from technology to make sure it meets our business need.  Help Desk with investigating reported issues by internal and external clients and determining the nature of the issues for proper assignment, communication, and escalation.

 

Qualifications required:

A. UAT Skills Requirements:

 

1)     Test regression and performance, both manually and automated, of trading and administrative

     applications.

2)     Generate and implement test plans and procedures

3)     Design and maintain manual and automated test scripts

4)     Manage, reproduce and track bugs and fixes, and provide documentation on testing results

5)     Provide Release Notes/Training to user community for any system modifications and/or

     enhancements

6)     Understand full systems project lifecycle

7)     Understand full trade lifecycle

8)     PLUS if have experience with development and maintenance of Mercury’s TestDirector or similar

     defect-tracking system

9)     Minimum 2+ years of application development experience

10) Strong technical background with hands-on experience dealing with Unix and Sybase performing

     such tasks as restarts and kills, evaluating and tailing log files, command and port connectivity

     and updates
