Job Description:	Position Description - Senior Systems Administrator Department Description We are seeking an experienced Systems Administrator to become an leader on the ASP infrastructure team responsible for delivering the right combination of process and leading edge technological innovation to compliment an industry leading software solution that has been developed in-house and is in the process of being rolled out. Brief Description Candidates must have an intense desire to deliver a bullet-proof technology infrastructure as part of a newly formed team. Implementation will be from a clean slate. Candidates must possess a deep understanding of current industry "best practices" for ASP based infrastructure architecture, systems performance (WINTEL and Linux), security practices and storage. The ideal candidate will have a strong technical background, outstanding interpersonal skills, and the ability to communicate effectively with both technical and business team members. Detailed Description Working closely with the Vice-President of Information Technology; Vice-President of Operations; and Chief Technology Officer, the Senior Systems Administrator will;   -         Develop server provisioning and build-out procedures -         Implement system monitoring and notification infrastructure -         Automate technology infrastructure tasks through development and acquisition of advanced productivity tools -         Complete patching and upgrades to infrastructure as needed and document -         Anticipate and troubleshoot infrastructure issues as they arise -         Develop detailed performance trending and analysis for systems and storage -         Participate in equipment procurement and budgeting process -         Develop system recovery/business continuation documentation Preferred Requirements: Senior Level of Microsoft Server Administration skills in a large scale clustered environment Experience with Microsoft Server 2003 administration in a highly secure environment. Experience with DEBIAN Linux, and supporting open source tools Experience with Tomcat Server Familiarity with security protocols, hacking methods, and system hardening. Strong understanding of NAS and SAN. Previous working experience with EMC storage products (NAS) is preferred. Experience with OO design of complex systems in a multi-tier architecture (using relational database systems and messaging). Knowledge of relational database technologies (Sybase preferred, Oracle is a plus). Knowledge of Java, BEA Weblogic and JMS (Tibco EMS, IBM MQ) for message oriented middleware is a strong plus but not absolutely necessary. Basic financial services knowledge is required; familiarity with trade settlement processes and brokerage operations is helpful. Experience participating in a large scale software development project is necessary. Excellent verbal and written communication skills to interact with other developers and to produce project documentation is also required

PURPOSE   Engineering role on Market Data Infrastructure team. Provide technical direction for quote and trading infrastructure. PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES   Design, deploy and support market data quoting and trading infrastructure.   Provide project planning for relocations, systems installations and disaster recovery.   Ensure documentation on all systems in use for production and disaster recovery and regulatory purposes.   ·         Ensure production problems, bugs, system problems/changes are documented and requests are acted upon promptly. Keep Senior Management advised of situations that may compromise agreed deliverables and/or affect production systems.   ·         Responsible for the dissemination of daily outages related to marketdata. JOB SPECIFICATIONS Understanding of Market Data concepts: Datafeeds, stock exchanges and vendor reporting requirements. Knowledge of Fix, STAMP, QIX, SDP, SFTI, ECNs.  Good verbal and written communication skills. Knowledge of basic project management skills. ·         Possess interpersonal skills enabling the incumbent to deal with and relate well with several levels of users and management.     Required:   Knowledge of major marketdata vendor platforms such as Wombat, Reuters RMDS, TIBCO, Bloomberg, Thomson Financial and Inter Dealer Brokers.  Experience with Market data services inventory and cost reconciliation with tools such as MDM, FITS, or GLOW. Knowledge of ECN, FIX trading technologies Knowledge of Direct Exchange feeds Knowledge of Trade Order Management systems Worked with Intel, Sparc, Opteron hardware to support Windows and UNIX operating systems Mastery of shell scripting in bourne shell and perl ·         Management skills- planning, scheduling, organizing and negotiating. Demonstrated competency in crafting efficient and effective solutions to diverse and complex business problems.   Preferred: Knowledge of programming languages such as C, C++	WORKING CONDITIONS (Legislative Requirement)   Working conditions requires moderate physical dexterity. The discipline to be very careful when working around live equipment in the data center. Be able to deal with the elevated stress levels during market data outages. The pressures of working in a trading environment.
	TIME ALLOCATION (Provide percentage breakdown of key responsibilities.)   35% is spent on design and engineering new systems. 25% is spent vendor management. 25% is spent on day to day support. 10% is spent documentation. 5% is spent on market data changes as business requirements change.
