Change Management
Manage installation and configuration of application software for production environments on multiple platforms
Schedule and track application changes and releases
Define, test, and document installation and fallback of system changes
Risk assessment prior to implementation
Document specific procedures for implementation and error checking
Manage software and configuration changes on Test and Production environments
Project Management
Work on projects of all sizes and scope within the company
Work on multiple projects simultaneously, often in a leadership role
Set priorities and organize work to complete project responsibilities efficiently and effectively
Participate in design meetings, implementation planning process, and the management of production issues
Implementation Management

Make several daily modifications to support customers' business and technical specifications

Perform operational acceptance tests before changes are rolled out
Design implementation strategy and procedures
Application configuration and implementation management
Deploy application software and configuration changes across all Production and Test environments
Perform implementation and integration of application software and hardware configuration changes
Operational Acceptance Testing

Create and execute operational test plans/scripts/cases based on technical and business requirements for trading applications and market operations support tools

Support the execution of unit, acceptance, performance, capacity, regression and system failover testing on back-end components using manual and automated test procedures
Support scheduled weekend testing of Production level systems and applications
Test OS and layered product upgrades/patches
Application Support

Provide application and system support for several internal departments including Computer Operations, Market Operations, SQM, Product Management and Technology Member Services

Provide application and environment administration of a complex trading systems
Utilize Remedy to track and manage defects discovered during testing and application support
Troubleshoot and diagnose systems problems; install and configure fixes for applications running on OpenVMS, Red Hat Linux and Windows platforms
Troubleshoot and diagnose systems problems and make repairs in areas of responsibility
Support all Test Environments and Production environments
Provide online and offline Level II support for the trading systems (24 x 7 on call)
Analyze cause of production problems and develop methods for improvement
Customer service and vendor management

Manage open trading systems issues with customers and vendors
Emergency release handling
Research and selection of products to fulfill project requirements

The core trading portfolio team is currently being restructured to better align to business objectives/goals. The current portfolio includes a large set of legacy applications; the current team, while holds adequate business domain knowledge, is short of mature development practice and experience.


We are seeking a motivated and experienced technologist to lead a core trading portfolio team to ensure that the defined business function has the technology and infrastructure it requires to meet the goal of trading excellently.

Core trading APM will manage a team that includes both project execution capability (PM, BA, QA) and some development capacity (tech lead, dev), and will have responsibility for all aspects of the project life cycle.

Core trading portfolio manager is responsible for the strategy, execution, maintenance and quality for all applications within that portfolio.

We expect this role to create a critical mass of change, evolution or investment necessary to sustain a base level of technology expertise and familiarity, and formulate the needs of technology to evolve with the needs of business.

Core Criteria
Management Ability

5+ years of OMS application portfolio management experience, including building an application development team, working with business users, and 3rd party vendors.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills – capability to convince people based on reasoning not just experience.
Can establish a program of projects to achieve necessary portfolio evolution. Ensure project meets the business goal, and able to hold team members accountable and deliver on-time, on-budget projects in-line with the quality expectation.

Technical Skill and Business Knowledge
Hands-on experience working with front office trading systems, particularly OMS space, understands the competitive landscape, having working knowledge of global financial markets, exchanges, etc.
Capable of acting as thought partner and provide oversight to both tech lead on technology front and project manager on project execution front.
Experience with all stages of SDLC, with the proven ability to drive an idea through to implementation.
Practical problem decomposition and problem solving.
