Web Developer (Java) $110K (preferred base, will go a little higher) Plus bonus

Location: Jersey City

 

Seeking a Web Developer to contribute to the design and development of our existing software—a consumer and business facing web presence, as well as an automated information interchange layer for acquiring and distributing data—while adding exciting new features as part of an agile development process. We work with short milestones, iterative improvements, and a gusto for refactoring.  A successful candidate will have demonstrable success creating testable, clear, reliable code in a collaborative, fast-paced environment.

 

Technical Skills and Experience

• Strong standard-compliant HTML/CSS/XML/XSLT
• Expert JavaScript (object oriented; knowledge of frameworks like Prototype)
• Strong Java-based templating languages such as JSP, Velocity, WebMacro
• Proven track record in cross platform cross browser development
• Experience working with large scale mission critical ecommerce applications
• Experience with SEO/SEM
• Experience with AJAX technologies like JSON, XML-RPC, etc
• Knowledge of GoF design patterns, particularly MVC and how it applies to client-side code

 

Not required but helpful technical skills & experience:

• Experience with Java, Struts, Spring, WebSphere and related application server and multi-tier development environments
• Experience with graphic design
• Experience with session management
• Experience in non-Java front-end frameworks like Ruby on Rails, Django, Flex
• Experience with mobile development

• Confident written and verbal communication skills

• A strong team contributor able to help devise solutions and produce quality software with others
• SEO/SEM
• Ability to help solve a wide-variety of technically challenging problems (sometimes unusual ones) as part of creating original products.

Java Swing Developer

Contract or Contract-to-Perm

Pay Rate to Contractor: $70 – 75/hr. corp to corp

 Contractors can come from anywhere

If converted to permanent, will receive full relocation.

To become permanent, must be willing to transfer visa to our client.

Responsible for the development of Investment Management/Risk Analytics business line applications.   Java Developer will contribute to the design, development and testing of a Fixed Income Portfolio/Risk Management related systems and applications. Programs supported range from above-average complexity to very complex. Supports the daily acitivity of the Business Areas by creating and maintaining custom reports and programs.

Specific Technical Knowledge and Experience Required:

• An expert in Java Swing, and solid knowledge of Java, J2EE, JMS. EJB, JConnect, Weblogic. Must be very strong with OO design
• Superior knowledge of relational database environment, Oracle preferred, Sybase
• Knowledge of UNIX environment, Solaris preferred
• Knowledge of Client-Server concepts (3-tier architecture concepts preferred) and GUI development concepts required.

Specific Business Knowledge and Experience Required:

• Has business and technical knowledge of investment processes. Uses solid business knowledge to develop rapid proactive solutions for significant business issues. Clearly understands purposes, objectives, practices, and procedures of the department and business units.
• Maintains solid knowledge of corporate and departmental information system strategies.
• Demonstrate proficiency in systems analysis of business requirements
• Has advanced written and oral communication skills, experience making presentations to senior management and ability to conduct meetings.
