The emphasis of this position is the communications aspects of the role around creating a "pitch" for each product for internal & external consumption and the ability to articulate a clear, differentiated value proposition.

Responsibilities:

- Product communications: this includes developing & maintaining product collateral that describes, differentiates and positions each product for internal and external audiences. This includes producing sales collateral for each product and collaborating with Marketing Communications & Regional Marketing in distributing & managing it. - Product visibility: developing product presentations that are conducive to being delivered at conferences and forums where applicability to a topic or theme may need to be considered. A successful candidate may also deliver such presentations. This also includes coordinating and managing participation in product competitions held by various industry organizations and interfacing with market analysts that produce industry market share/ rankings based on product-specific measures (e.g. number of Ethernet port in use, etc...). This person will also collaborate with Marketing Communications to issue product and technology press releases. - Competitive product analysis & positioning: this includes researching competitor products and developing market intelligence on the relative positioning of offerings. This includes the analysis of market research data and extrapolating specific measures. This also includes the relative positioning of different products and responsibility for product naming & categorization. - Product launches: this person will be part of the team in developing new products and will be responsible, in conjunction with Product Development, for the communications aspect of a new product launch including sales communications & training as well as the creation & distribution of product collateral. - Product training: this includes creating, managing and delivering product training on an as-needed basis to internal organizations including sales, engineering, finance, operations, etc... as part of initial product launch, to support new hires or as periodical refreshers. - Product & technologist support: participating in the product development process with an eye towards market positioning and supporting the Technologists in conveying specialist technical concepts to a non-specialist audience. - The individual must comply with departmental and corporate internal controls and all internal controls processes. - The individual must possess and employ the highest ethical and business standards and always conduct himself/herself with the greatest degree of professional integrity. - Miscellaneous other duties and responsibilities as may be requested and required.

Requirements:

- Bachelor's degree required. - 6-8 years experience in Product Marketing with at least 4 years with a telecommunications company. - Technology and market understanding of optical/WDM, Ethernet & IP with the ability to elicit respect and credibility. - Strong preference for telecom service provider background. - Very strong written & verbal communications skills required - public speaking experience is preferable. - Very strong presentation skills with a mastery of PowerPoint and the ability to put together and articulate a visual story required. - Previous experience writing product and sales collateral and working with various internal groups. - Occasional travel will be required.

* Build / design / deploy new servers
* Maintain a system of over 800 servers and 60 data lines in 10 locations
* Support a user base of over 120 people
* Monitor Linux-based servers for any hardware / software failures and work to correct them
* Assist with day-to-day maintenance of servers including backups, software upgrades, etc.
* Work with numerous Open Source applications to build enterprise level systems (i.e. Apache, MySQL, PHP, etc.)
* Resolve technical and capacity issues on the site
* Manage all aspects of the integrity of the environment, this includes security, monitoring (capacity and performance), change control and software management
* Generate usage reports and documentation
* Research and evaluate new technologies and take a lead role in the recommendation and implementation of both existing and new application software (applications, operating systems, etc.), hardware, and maintenance
* Coordinate resource usage to facilitate process efficiency and project management
* Provide consultation and guidance regarding the planning of future server additions and modifications
* Maintain current patch levels on all systems where applicable
* Responsible for 2nd level support and deployment of UNIX/Linux technology (this includes Production, User Acceptance Test, Disaster Recovery and Development)
* Perform software installations and upgrades to Unix operating systems

NECESSARY QUALIFICATIONS:

* experience maintaining and running RedHat Linux servers a must
* experience maintaining unix servers in general (security, software updates, system diagnosis, debugging, tuning, advanced troubleshooting, etc.)
* performing software updates
* knowledge of Cisco IOS, Sun Solaris, and Windows
* ability to build / deploy / tweak / maintain Apache and MySQL setups
* experience building RPM's from source code
* knowledge of networks, colo's, hardware, phones, etc.
* RHCE, puppet and asterisk a plus
* knowledge of what an inode is and the difference between ARP and DNS
* very strong networking skills to include TCP/IP, subnetting, routing
* Unix skills including LDAP, DNS (bind), NFS
* strong perl and bourne shell scripting
* proven experience in network administrations and routing protocols
* strong hardware and software diagnostics skills
* large scale storage experience (NAS / SAN, HSM, backups)
* must have experience using the following commands: vmstat, top, uname, ps, emacs/vi, cvs/svn/git, make, rpm, ping, traceroute
* BS in Computer Science a must

* Assist in design decisions for a 15+ team creating infrastructure for a high frequency trading system, across a wide range of projects
* Act as a hands-on developer for specific projects, as assigned; for example, code connections to new markets, optimize the systems’ performance, maintain and expand the databases of financial information, and build risk management and performance tracking tools
* Potentially, assume team lead responsibilities for a group of 3-5 people

Requirements:

* 3-5 years of experience as an architect on a high frequency trading system
* Degree in math, engineering, computer science, or a related field from a top college or university (undergraduate or graduate)

* Excellent programming skills: solid C++ experience is required, and Java knowledge is a plus
* Knowledge of Linux

* Brilliant problem-solving skills
