· Solid computer science fundamentals.
· Knowledge of the core Java and/or J2EE platforms and/or Adobe Flex / Actionscript or .Net
· Comfortable doing small-scale design in addition to hands-on implementation.
· Solid experience using most GoF patterns.
· A working knowledge of large-scale systems software.
· Experience working on highly-scalable systems.
· Ability to effectively understand UML, including Class, Activity and State diagrams.
· Experience with distributed, fault-resilient systems software.
· Real-world experience with heavily threaded systems.
· Comfortable working on large-scale systems of over 1,000 classes.
· Hands-on experience developing and deploying sophisticated web UIs using Javascript, CSS and HTML 4 OR experience with Java
desktop applications such as SWT or Swing.
· Familiarity or a STRONG INTEREST in working with the following is desired:
o Development of packaged software products.
o Metadata-driven, adaptive systems.
o Agile Development methodology.
o Code generators.
o Dynamic languages such as Python, Ruby or Smalltalk.
o Eclipse, Websphere, Weblogic, JBoss.
o Design-by-contract.
o Pattern Based Design.
o General understanding of systems and application administration.
o Governance, Risk and Compliance (GRC) Domain.
EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
· At least 4 years primarily Java related programming and design.
· Understanding of best practices in software product development

POSITION SUMMARY
The Senior Developer is responsible for implementing technical solutions using Java, Adobe Flex / Actionscript, .Net and SQL technologies
within our packaged software products and utility programs as well as assisting with design as necessary.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
· Develop highly scalable, performant OO applications in a pure Java and/or J2EE, Adobe Flex / Actionscript , .Net environment.
· Work as part of an Agile Scrum team on multiple challenging development problems. As a member of a Scrum team, developers will
be expected to participate in test planning as well as development planning exercises, paired program and work on test cases on
occasion.
· Work with our Architect or Team Leads to understand and implement technical specifications written in standard design tools such as
UML Class and Activity diagrams.
· Research design specifications as needed with direction from Team Lead or Architect.
· Assist the Architect team in developing and enforcing best practices within the development group.
· Utilize and improve your working knowledge of computer science fundamentals, GoF patterns, and large-scale system software
principles.
· Generate estimates for project proposals and programming tasks as needed with direction from Team Lead or Architect.
· Assist in providing development documentation, technical training and documentation for support groups, as well as testing guidance
for the quality analysts.
· Participate in Design Inspections and Code Walk-through Reviews as appropriate.
· Efficiently develop high quality code from current designs.
· Perform maintenance and support activities as necessary.
· Assist with gathering of specifications as needed.
· Assist in unit testing code as needed. This may include the code of other team members.
· Able to work hours outside the normal business hours on occasion.
· Other related duties as assigned.

POSITION DESCRIPTION
Senior level software engineer to work on Clearing System Software Development, specifically working on trade, settlement and position reconciliation with regard to transforming and loading data into the clearing database and creating various reports for the back office and accounting departments.
REQUIREMENTS
Five years plus hands-on programming experience in Java
Good working knowledge of SQL (Oracle preferred)
Knowledge of a scripting language (ksh/perl) and
Exposure to UNIX (Linux) is highly desirable
Experience with XML, UM (or other object oriented modeling language) and financial instruments is a plus
Must have strong written and verbal communication skills
Strong problem solving skills as well as be self-motivated and self-directed

As part of the Client Integration organization the selected individual will coordinate the implementation, testing and deployment of large scale Order Management System projects that will bring new business to the firm.
Responsibilities will include:
Management of OMS installation for new customers.
Analysis of OMS customer requirements.
Administration of expanding OMS feature set geared toward satisfying the needs of customers and positioning the system for future growth.

Tradeplant client connectivity group manages FIX connectivity production environment. The team is responsible for liaising with Network & firewall group to permission new connections, configure the in production environment & manage the client configuration for various lines of business like Cash, Algorithmic, Portfolio, Derivatives etc. Besides the client-on-boarding related changes, the team also manages the software roll-out for all the products supported in the Client connectivity arena. The team has a global presence in Onshore ( New York, London & Tokyo ) as well as Offshore ( Mexico & India ).
Key Responsibilities
The person will be responsible for managing & coordinating client-on-boarding production rollout/releases & interfacing with the Offshore, testing, QA, Dev & business teams for the coordination. The person will be a direct delegate to the Global client connectivity manager. He/she will be also be the second level production support for issues & outages. In the role he/she will be required to work ( attend meetings ) with the client connectivity teams globally.
Required Skills
FIX, UNIX, PERL, SQL
Team player, Good oral communication & coordination skills.
Well versed & hand on experience in FIX protocol both session & application level messaging.
Good troubleshooting & outage handling skills & prior experience.
Excellent shell & perl scripting skills.
Experience in Equities-Cash/Algo, Derivatives trading & applications Support.
Exposure to SQL & Database knowledge.
FIX certification & on-boarding experience is a big plus.
Should be able to work & lead the projects independently.
