Platform Architect NYC

Description:    Implement a new services platform that will replace an existing enterprise IT systems with a cloud service based platform. The platform will be designed to facilitate rapid development of B2B and B2C services. 

The Architect will be responsible for overall product architecture and implementing standards and guidelines for the platform. The Architect reports directly to the SVP of Engineering. 

The Architect will be responsible for ensuring consistent implementation of standards through code delivered by the Engineering Team. The Architect will collaborate with other Architects to ensure all other products and projects are in alignment. 

Responsibilities 
· Implement Standards Definitions and Guidelines 

· Implement API Specifications, working with QA/Test 

· Collaborate with Engineering Leads to ensure Code meets Standards 

· Hold Code Reviews with development team 

· Ensure Services, Interfaces, and Integrations are consistent 

· Estimate Tasks and Deliverables with Product Manager, Developers 

· Lead Daily Standups, as alternate Scrum Master 

Competencies/Skills 
· Proven track record as Design/Solutions Engineer 

· Proven experience with Agile (both Scrum and Kanban preferred) 

· Experience with distributed teams (on/near/off shore) 

· Experience coding in JVM based language(s) and/or Ruby 

· Experience in TDD based Development 

Preferences 
· Java Spring, Ruby on Rails, or JRuby 

· Design of RESTful services, JSON, HTML5 

· SOA, Distributed Systems, Messaging, ESB, or Grid Experience a Plus 

· Cloud Services experience, preferred (Cloud Foundry, Heroku, etc) 

· Startup experience, with open source technologies preferred 

· Experience managing SaaS based products
