Hardware Engineering Integrated Product Team Lead. This Principal Engineer will lead the hardware engineering developers and support teams. This position has some key program roles to perform: to assure a well planned and executed program as well as consistency of processes and systems, and to manage cross program integration and risk management issues in an expeditious manner

This lead will accomplish program tasks through team members/technical leaders; sub-system leads who direct all the HW resources for company, partners, and others engaged in the engineering development efforts, as well as direct material, subcontracts, support equipment and software, integration, production, test and delivery of products / solutions.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND QUALIFICATIONS: Responsible for leadership of hardware engineering development, cost, schedule, and risk management; suite of concurrent programs engaged in Satellite Communication Ground Receiver technology, and High Speed Digital Data Delivery; Complex, critical Hardware development is the core of the program. As such, the position requires a highly competent and experienced engineering lead who can:

- Direct a multi-disciplinary development team consisting of up to 120 team members of all levels, involved in Sub-system, Rack, Chassis, Board, FPGA, FW Design, Test and Integration, as well as Product Design (Docs, Dwgs, and Manuals), Materials Management, Manufacturing, and Component (unit) test.
- Bid, perform and deliver HW development tasks meeting requirements, cost and schedule objectives.
- Serve as the POC for the customer and PMO on hardware development issues.

Qualified candidates will have
- Track record of successful project leadership experience involving teams of 50 or more engineers in a successful multi-disciplinary development effort.
- Experience leading development efforts that push the envelope of current technology and apply that technology to meet the customer's needs.
- Demonstrated ability to formulate and confidently deliver persuasive technical data packages to high level customer audiences. Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Demonstrated effective management of Risks and Opportunities leading to the successful delivery of systems providing a high degree of customer satisfaction. Ability to anticipate, prevent, avoid, or mitigate barriers to success.

Applicants selected will be subject to a government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information.

Required skills 1. Leadership of design and integration of large custom hardware development projects as a technical project manager. 50 or more personnel for 10 years or more.
2. Working successfully through a rigorous "Systems Engineering" approach for 10 years.
3. Experience with RF Communications and / or high speed digital HW technology development.
4. Must show strong business management of complex budgets, and technical decision making abilities in a highly visible position. Experience with Earned Value as a CAM for at least 10 years.
5. Staffing, mentoring and coaching abilities to select and build the team and provide long term growth and success of the program.

Desired skills Working knowledge of medium scale hardware system implementations.
Knowledgeable in the following domains: Digital Board Design or FPGA Design, Material Planning, Subcontractor management, Hardware assembly and Integration, Product Design and Firmware Development.
Program Management Professional certification.

Principal Engineer to conduct research activities in the area of design, architecture, simulation and verification of embedded systems, with emphasis on distributed real-time applications supported by conventional and innovative communication technologies.

The Embedded Systems Principal Research Engineer will contribute to development and growth of a research program focused on methods and a modeling infrastructure to support the analysis, design, simulation and verification of real-time distributed embedded systems. New methods and tools will have direct application to challenging problems arising in the business units, such as the deployment of wireless fire protection systems in large commercial buildings, the creation of a new generation of elevator high rise embedded controls, and the design of safety critical aircraft power distribution controls. The Principal Research Engineer will be a technical leader creating ideas, marketing and securing funding, guiding junior researchers in the development of technology projects, supporting Project Leaders with planning, tracking and execution, and engaging with the business units and external partners in research collaborations.

Candidate Must Have :
* MA/MS degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or Computer Science with 12+ years experience post graduation (prefer PhD degree with 8+ years of industrial or academic experience post graduation.)
* Expertise in one or more of the following areas: real real-time operating systems for embedded controls applications, ad-hoc communication networks including wireless sensor networks, software (UML, SystemC) and system modeling (MATLAB/Simulink), and automated code generation (e.g. Real Time Workshop, TargetLink)
* Proven track record in leading research directions demonstrated by engagement within the research community, securing funding through research proposals, publication on peer-reviewed archival journals, creation of patented inventions
* Superior communication skills and ability to provide timely, accurate and detailed reports and presentations.
* Entrepreneurial attitude towards innovation
