The C/C++ knowledge would include low-level C code (sockets, ipc, pthreads, signals, mutexes) as well as high-level C++ design skills (STL, algorithms, data structures, multi-threaded design). The incumbent will lead or manage a small trading support team in monitoring and supporting the company’s internal Equity Order Routing, Crossing and Compliance applications. He or she will be a key contributor in supporting, troubleshooting, and integrating equity trading applications issues and ensuring problems are resolved in a timely and efficient manner. The individual will be working in a cross–functional environment, in close cooperation with many diverse areas of the firm.

• Manage the day-to-day activities of the trading support team by defining, implementing and maintaining a coherent, progressive strategy.
• Manage trading support team in troubleshooting equity trading systems, order routing, front office, middle office, crossing and compliance application issues, determine source of problems, and identify solutions for internal and external clients, using technical and analytical expertise and knowledge of systems.
• Conceptualize most efficient methods of resolving trading support issues in order increase productivity. Categorize, prioritize and resolve trading application issues dealing with all levels of equity trade order and routing systems.
• Plan, conduct and direct major projects, or phases of projects.

This is a great opportunity to work with an experienced team of system engineers that configure, install, manage, and support a large number of medium to enterprise class systems according to existing procedures, and utilizing in-house and standard Unix tools. This is a technical hands-on opportunity that deals with the latest Sun technologies as well as opportunities for project oriented development of services and tools.

Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or Related Field (or equivalent work experience)
At least 4 years of experience in UNIX Systems Administration
