• Minimum 5 years of professional experience in user interface design and implementation, and information architecture.
• Experience creating an API layer between a frontend GUI application and a server-side market data ticker plant and Order Management System.
• Experience developing multi-threaded real-time applications for the Windows platform. An understanding of the data structures and their appropriate application, threading, inter-process communications, current caching techniques, and networking is required.
• Knowledgeable about current technology standards and practices - e.g. Interface Design, Needs Analysis, Information Architecture, Usability Engineering, Internationalization (I18N) and Localization (L10N), Software Engineering Lifecycle.
• Experience with the design, documentation, and development of an object-oriented client-facing API that encapsulates server-side functionality and presents a straightforward interface to applications.
• Financial industry experience working with real-time Market Data (Equity and Equity Options preferred) and Order Management. FIX Protocol experience is desirable.
• Familiarity with performance measurement and unit testing.
• Experience implementing automated deployment and updates over-the-wire is highly desirable.
• Experienced in effectively communicating and collaborating with personnel within a multi-disciplinary environment by leveraging personal, academic, and professional experiences.
• Experience with the following technologies:
o C++ /Windows (80%) and Microsoft .NET (managed C++, C#) (20 %) and MUST understand the managed/unmanaged interop between the two layers
o Win32 API, Windows SDK 6.0 (Vista)
o WPF and XAML desirable
o XML
o Microsoft Visual Studio 2008
o Doxygen, SVN
• Applicant’s responsibilities will include
o API development and support (30%)
o Design, implementation, and maintaining market data and order management caches between backend server system and frontend GUI application (50 %)
o GUI design and implementation (20%).

This position is working with the software infrastructure group. The person does NOT need financial experience - the candidate will be working with grid computing, application server software and messaging server software all written in Java/J2EE. Communication skills for the candidate must be TOP NOTCH.

There are two aspects of this role, the care and feeding of application development groups and helping other teams use the Java components.
The interview process involves a "sit down" working on a Java algorithmic project .
There is no relocation, no sponsorship.

Candidates should ideally be within a commutable distance to Stamford, CT and have either a green card or U.S. permanent residence status.
