Sybase Lead Engineer (2075)
Location NY - New York City Experience Level Senior
Position Description Looking for a leader to create and lead a world
class information management organization for a world class financial
services firm.
*The candidate will be an experienced Data professional with at least 10
years experience in operating, designing and supporting various
relational databases in Financial Services industry.
*In not so distant past the candidate worked as a hands-on operational
and application Sybase DBA.
*The candidate will own Sybase product direction for the company,
perform as a single point of contact on all Sybase related tasks and
issues and act as a liaison between Sybase and the company.
*This person must have a deep understanding of technical database and
development work, the impact of database design decisions on the
technical database and application infrastructures.
*This person will work across all business units and with a wide variety
of internal team members ranging from junior to expert level, in all
locations - remote (globally) and local. Soft skills, flexibility,
influencing and negotiation skills are imperative.
*This person must be self-motivated and self-directed, be able to work
with both onshore and offshore DBAs and customers at all levels.
*This person will oversee database system architecture and design;
architect scalability, availability and monitoring solutions.
*Responsibilities will include performing hands on technical work
database administration work on Sybase, MSSQLServer.
*This person will also identify and correct issues related to database
performance, reliability and scalability. Skills
*Proven track record of 10+ years of continuous experience in
engineering and/or solution architecture, development, and
implementation of Data solutions for large-scale systems, across
multiple hardware and software platforms.
*Proven track record in High Availability, Disaster Recovery and
heterogeneous data replication solutions.
*Hands on experience with operating, architecting, implementing and
tuning various applications using Sybase and, MSSQLServer or Oracle.
*Experience with architecting scalable service-oriented solutions at
enterprise level
*Excellent communication, presentation, influencing, and reasoning
skills to earn support of business leaders, technology leaders,
colleagues, and vendor representatives
*Capable of building sustainable relationships with colleagues and key
individuals
*Creativity and ability to think outside-the-box while defining sound
and practical solutions.
Salary 150K - 170K base + bonus.
