Description: Act as consultant and database Subject Matter Expert in the areas of (a) Database Administration, (b) Database Design standards and processes including naming, conventions, capacity, accessibility, scalability, documentation, and (c) database architectural Standards - specifically as it relates to security, availability, replication, storage, and configuration management.
Understand and provide SQL Server complex query development, User Defined Functions and DTS (SSIS) Packages. Experienced in writing SQL queries, Stored Procedures, Views and ETL process and Reference Data Management.
Provide some level of oversight to other Database Administrators and/or directly perform tasks related to the installation, configuration, maintenance, and support, of all of the Enterprise Database applications.
Ability to troubleshoot complex database issues as they arise. This could include application level issues, server hardware or operating system issues such as security, and deadlocks, and network level issues.
Develop and Maintain in conjunction with Firm Directives, database backup and recovery procedures along with best practices for monitoring performance.
Work with internal and external consultants to understand the firm's business goals and priorities to participate in the development of a Business Continuity / Disaster Recovery plan.
Review Hardware/OS/Application specifications and requirements to provide appropriate recommendations.
Work with technical as well as end users to understand business requirements and identify database solutions
Resolve problems with Firm's application database systems
Interface with vendors as needed for technical support and customizations when necessary.
Continue to improve upon the strategic and proactive direction for the firm's enterprise database systems and applications.
Maintain separate development and testing environments to protect the production environment and to eliminate contention among the varied activities.
Maintain all database documentation and standards.
Provide 7x24 support when needed.
Adhere to all Firm Policies and Procedures.
Occasional travel as needed.
Other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications:
Minimum of enterprise level database systems such as Oracle, SQL Server or others. Preferred Microsoft SQL
Must also have in depth, advanced expertise with relational database structures, data security, storage solutions, database virtualization, replication, and clustering as well as other complex technical tools and solutions.
Understands and relates business needs as they pertain to Data Sources/Systems/etc. This may also include interviewing business users to create and/or understand requirements and then preparing requirements documents and Architecture Mapping Documents

Excellent teamwork, adaptability, and sense of client and coworker service.
Requires sound communication and team working skills. -- working often as part of a team explaining to other technical personnel the changes needed to maintain a database's stability. This includes a demonstrated ability to professionally and diplomatically communicate with all levels of users, managers, and vendors.
Education/Training Requirements (licenses, programs, or certificates):
Requires a bachelor's degree in computer science or similar area of specialty
Experience:
At least 8-10 years of experience in the field or in a related area, of which 5-8 years should be comprised in the design, development, administration, and maintenance areas.
