Job Description

 

Title:                       Director, Global Market Data Services

Reports to:              Managing Director, Technology

 

Job Summary

 

The Director of Global Market Data Services is the senior manager for the firm with regard to our use and management of equity and equity derivative Market Data.  The manager is responsible for a team of approximately 15 staff and an additional 3 international staff (matrixed).

 

The staff comprise three groups; Market Data Global Product Management, Market Data Managers, and Market Data Operations and Support.

 

The primary functions of the Director are to ensure  the company  is prepared for and capable of handling the Market Data needs of our products and service today and in the future.  The Director will have a high level of knowledge related to Market Data in the financial industry, the trends in the market with regard to Market Data use in Trading and Analytics, broad awareness of Market Data vendors and competent in understanding U.S. and International Market Data composition (SEDOLS, CUSIPS, Corporate Actions and other fundamentals).   Company  will rely on the Director to lead the Market Data teams, manage Market Data growth, efficiencies and consistency throughout the firm and work closely with all lines of business and operational units.

 

Core Skills

 

Ø      Minimum of 10 years experience working directly with Market Data in a Trading or other Financial Institution.

Ø      Minimum of 10 years management and/or Product Management experience.

Ø      Deep understanding of Market Data concepts; Data feeds, securities exchanges and vendor reporting requirements.

Ø      Experience working with ECN’s, FIX, and Industry Trading Technologies.

Ø      Broad knowledge of Market Data Vendor Feeds (real-time, historical) and Direct Feeds.

Ø      Knowledge of equity and equity derivative Trading room systems and tools, such as Trade Order Management Systems, Order Execution systems and Trade optimization tools.

Ø      BA, BS, MBA in related field preferred.

 

Other

 

Ø      Position will require up to 20% US and International Travel

Ø      Proven ability to manage multiple priorities, teams, tight deadlines

Ø      Excellent communication skills, able to interact with all levels of the firm, up to and including the CEO

.NET Software Engineer

 

An experienced hands-on software engineer with at least seven years of experience to help design and develop enterprise solutions delivered both as installed software and as services.  Software engineering experience designing and building desktop, server and web based systems is required.  The ideal candidate will have deep expertise with Microsoft Windows application development using both Win32 and .NET APIs.  The ability to effectively manage individual work as part of a team is critical to this position.

 

Required Experience and Skills:

  • Object oriented design and development.  At least two years of experience with C#/.NET is required in addition to a strong background with Win32 development in C and C++.
  • Web based application development, including multiplatform user interface and web service implementation experience.  The candidate should have a strong understanding of the full stack of technologies used for web-based services built on the .NET framework.
