Responsible for developing, tuning, and supporting extract/translation/load (ETL) processes mapped from technical requirements in a data warehouse environment.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Design, develop, test, and document extract, transform, and load (ETL) processes based on technical requirements. Identify data sources and work with source developers, technical analysts, and business analysts to understand specifications to develop data extraction/transformation/load criteria. Create complex SQL queries utilizing Oracle extended analytics features. Define, develop, and document complex Oracle PL/SQL packages for transformations. This includes the use of ref cursors and collections. Evaluate and tune SQL queries for optimal ETL processing. Develop and document basic unix shell scripts for job execution. Develop basic unit test plans. Tool /Technology EXPERIENCE: Experience with Oracle 10g required. Experience with ERD tools (Visio) preferred. Experience with Oracle TOAD preferred. Experience with Informatica development and Administration a plus. Experience with Tivoli Maestro scheduling tool a plus. Experience with Cognos ReportNet is a plus. Oracle 10g PL/SQL certification preferred. Oracle 10g DBA certification desired. OTHER
SKILLS and ABILITIES: Solid understanding of dimensional and relational database design concepts, SQL, DBMS objects such as indices, stored procedures, triggers, etc.. Basic understanding of UNIX (Solaris) shell scripting is required. Expertise with data ETL concepts such as metadata, staging, ODS, scheduling, data marts, data warehousing best practices, and software development lifecycles. Must have strong analytical and problem-solving background. Good interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively with users and other members of the technical staff is also required.
