Position Description:

 

This role will be part of the Prime Services IT team, more specifically Structured Finance IT, located in New York. Initially the person filling this role will work as a Developer/Analyst on Prime Services and related initiatives in New York. Close interaction with other IT groups, across product lines including Equities and Derivatives, as well as interaction with Prime Services teams in the Asia and Europe, will form an integral part of this role. As part of the Structured Finance IT team, the person filling this role will also be expected to be involved in support, enhancement and development of components of the PrimeSwap system.

 

Key Responsibilities:

 

-         Perform technical and functional analysis on a wide range of projects and initiatives, spanning Services initiatives

-         Understand the business requirements, document technical and functional solutions, and lead a small team of developers through implementation and testing

-         Run with and own the technical implementation phases of a variety of Prime Services IT projects

-         Develop and maintain relationships with application development and internal technical service providers e.g. Equities IT, Derivatives IT team

-         Develop and maintain relationships with Front Office groups, as well as other internal user groups like Operations and Product Control

-         Interact with IT groups within the region, as well as globally; lead small teams of developers (who may located in different global locations) to deliver to the NY Prime Services as well as Delta-One business

-         Ability to run functional tests as well as user acceptance test, with a view to providing first class delivery to a wide user base across front office, back office and IT

 

 

Experience and Skills Required/Desired:

 

Required Work Experience:  

-         Background in business analysis in investment banking environment

-         Project Management experience in Front Office IT or related environment

-         People Management / Team lead experience

-         Proven track record in delivering projects in cost effective manner

-         Knowledge of processing and trade flows

-         Experience in Front Office and external client facing roles

-         Experience of the full lifecycle of software development

-         Good (4 or more years) development experience in OO languages, preferably C# or equivalent

-         Experience supporting a demanding Front Office user base across country

Desirable Work Experience:

-         Equity Finance / Derivatives systems development

-         Cash trading systems development

Required Technical/Business Skills and Knowledge:

-         Strong knowledge in financial products

-         Very good working knowledge of financial markets

-         Very good working knowledge of trade lifecycle (e.g. execution, settlement, accounting, reporting)

-         Booch/UML modelling, OOA/OOD, Design Patterns

-         Strong SQL skills (preferably SQLServer, Sybase, or Oracle)

-         Solid knowledge or experience of enterprise systems

-         Unix and Windows

Job Description:

We have two open positions.  Data Center Engineers (one Jr. and one Sr.).  Strong Linux is fundamental.  Tomcat experience is preferred but not mandatory.  If not tomcat then instead of having 1 other expertise (e.g. SAN, Cisco IOS, Oracle, High Availability (F5), Windows) they would need 2.

For the senior role they are looking for someone with the skills and desire to grow into a management position.  The successful candidate should have a minimum of a BSEE degree and 5 or more years of experience supporting complex web environments and applications in a data center environment.  Candidates should have some knowledge of telephone networks and strong knowledge of datacenter operations supporting customer systems and services.  The duties of the job are attached below and the successful candidate would be required to work closely with a development team that provisions the customer services. 

 
Main duties and responsibilities:  

On call support for NY Local specific applications and web infrastructure.

Manage the rollout of web application content

Maintain current Firewall and security rules on web and extranet browsing firewalls.

Maintain group firewall policies.

Ensure all local web infrastructure is compliant with latest patched software and hardware.

Maintain on a daily basis the integrity of DNS database and managed additions, deletions and changes

Experience of maintaining a large Web/Application infrastructure

Strong firewall support and engineering skills on Cisco Pix

Good web server knowledge: IIS, Apache. Authentication mechanisms: LDAP, SecureID, client certificates.

Experience with SSH remote access infrastructures.

Good technical knowledge and background on all new Web technologies

2 or more years related experience with Apache and Tomcat environments

Excellent working knowledge of DNS Bind protocols and Proxy concepts.

Experience working with change and production control procedures.

Capable of effective written and verbal communication with co-workers

UNIX administration skills including; SOLARIS 2.8 administration

MICROSOFT - W2K 4+ years experience with supporting complex web environments and applications. Position requires hands-on technical skills, with an emphasis on troubleshooting. Experienced in Unix, NT, and Windows 2000.

Knowledge of Load Balancing and bandwidth limiting devices. F5s - BIG-IP.

Practical application of TCP/IP and switched/routed networks.

Skills and knowledge: (Specific product knowledge/PC skills/languages etc)

3+ years experience with supporting complex web environments and applications. Position requires hands-on technical skills, with an emphasis on troubleshooting. Experienced in Unix, NT, and Windows 2000.

Principal/Senior Java Architects to guide a very large application reengineering program to a new Java EE platform.
