Position Description:

 

Senior application developer responsible for the coding/testing and troubleshooting of a realtime repo trading application with a focus on the interface and business flows for the Prime Services business, facing external clients.

 

Key Responsibilities:

 

-         Troubleshoot complex issues across multiple application tiers and design/implement solutions to solve technical, performance, and business process flow problems

-         Apply an understanding of the system architecture and process flows to solve business problems

-         Assist in the diagnosis, resolution, and escalation of technical and business processing issues within the UAT environment

-         Follow SDLC+ development methodology and best practice

 

 

Qualifications

Experience and Skills Required/Desired:

 

Required Work Experience:  

-         7+ years experience developing investment banking trading applications

Required Technical/Business Skills and Knowledge:

-         Strong knowledge of application development on unix and windows platforms

-         Strong knowledge of .NET, C++ (STL/RW on Unix), Perl, & shell scripting

-         Strong working knowledge large front office trading systems

-         Strong working knowledge of messaging infrastructure, ideally MQ Series and EMS

-         Strong working knowledge of SQL, ideally in both Oracle and Sybase platforms

-         Strong communication skills and ability to design application enhancements to solve business and technical problems

Desirable Technical/Business Skills and Knowledge:

-         Knowledge of fixed income repo markets and bond markets

Required  Education and Professional Qualifications:

-         BS / BA in Computer Science or equivalent

We are looking for a seasoned Director-level manager to lead our
application development department. The ideal candidate will help us
identify new technologies and practices in the industry and bring them
to bear against the many challenges of a fast-growing hi-tech company
building products ranging from rich-media handheld applications to Web
2.0 tools to large-scale data systems.


Responsibilities:
- Building productive teams through strong recruitment, mentoring
and careers management.
- Leading a department of software developers and architects,
establishing development practices.
- Engaging and challenging requirements while designing solutions
based on deep technical knowledge of web, client and database
architectures.
- Setting high level design objectives; reviewing and critiquing
software designs proposed by architects.

Requirements:
- BS in Computer Science or equivalent
- Several years of experience leading a department of 10+ persons,
managing practices, careers and recruitment.
- 5+ years of previous experience as a Software Architect
- 5+ years of hands-on experience designing, delivering and
supporting complex customer-facing web-based applications.
- Expertise in several programming languages such as Java, C++ or
C# as well as OO design
- Strong SQL and data modeling skills, as well as real-world
experience with commercial RDMBS.
- Ability to quickly establish credibility with skilled developers
and architects
- Taste for simplicity and elegance in technical design

Required Skills:

Essential Job Function
Will be expected to design, develop implement and manage a variety of web based solutions to streamline business processes. Create and enhance in-house tools to manage web site operations. Produce and maintain clean, high quality, standards compliant code. Implement cross-browser/cross-platform UI compatibility and troubleshoot associated issues. Maintain cutting edge knowledge of current and emerging technologies, industry trends and standards. Work in conjunction with other teams to ensure successful implementation and integration of web-based applications and communicate technical parameters and constraints to relevant teams. Customize, compile, install, configure, monitor and debug web server instances. Troubleshoot issues with web servers, application server, databases, and web technologies. Perform software installations and upgrades to Web servers and software packages in accordance with established policies, procedures and internal service agreements. Conducts routine hardware and software audits of UNIX web servers for compliance with established standards, policies, procedures and configuration guidelines. Work closely with the networking and database teams to maintain the integrity of web servers and accessibility of web applications. Content updates for existing websites and applications. Respond to trouble tickets related to web applications and user issues. Must be able to proficiently handle multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.

Job Requirements/Qualifications
Must have a Bachelor’s degree (B.S.) from a four-year college or university in Computer Science or related degree. Master’s degree preferred. Five or more years experience in MIS/IS/IT. Three to five years of professional internet development
Expertise in HTML, JavaScript, CSS, Cold fusion, Oracle, is required, and experience with DHTML, PERL, PHP, CGI, MySql and Flash is preferred. Candidate must show an aptitude for detail. They should display leadership skills such as taking proper responsibility, pursuing solutions to problem, displaying resourcefulness towards accomplishing given task or goals. . Knowledge of network protocols. Experience with SUN Solaris and high availability environments. Ability to write scripts in one or more of the common languages – Bourne, C-Shell, Perl, etc. Knowledge of UNIX web server management/configuration, (apache, tomcat, iplanet). Must be internet and web Technology certified. Project management and communications experience preferred. Will be working in a typical office environment using standard office equipment, including a personal computer.
