Cognos Team Leader - (US-NY-New York)

Compensation: $130K - $150K / Year

12+ years experience in implementing BI and Data Warehousing solutions including BI strategy and roadmap, organization assessment, technical assessment and recommendation, tool selection and standard SDLC implementation.
8+ years experience in authoring and building reports using Cognos Report Studio, Query Studio and Analysis Studio and can explain the overall Cognos 8 and 10 architecture and relationships between the various studios. Experience working with the Cognos SDK is desired.
8+ years experience working with building complex enterprise wide Cognos semantic layer (Framework Manager) models and packages.
12+ years of strong SQL experience using Oracle and experience with 10g and ideally Oracle Exadata.
Experience in performance tuning reports using both Cognos and data modifications in order to meet the required SLA’s.
Experience in analyzing, planning and implementing the upgrade Cognos.
Experience building dimensional models and working with entity relational models. Understand and can clearly articulate data architecture concepts such as cartesian joins, partitioning, indexes, union, outer joins and cardinality.
Has sufficient depth and breadth of functional and technical knowledge to be individually responsible for the overall implementation of all Cognos implementation using a large on shore and off shore and off shore team.
Understands and can articulate the BI implementation SDLC process. Can advise the program manager on adjustments to the SDLC as required.
Has experience with developing an d executing test plans for unit, QA, UAT, performance and regression testing. Desired to have experience with testing automation using tool such as roadrunner to test large quantity of reports in an efficient manner.
12+ years technical experience and a Bachelor of Arts or Science or equivalent degree in Computer Science or related field of study. Without a degree, 3 additional years of experience in equivalent professional field.
Desired Industry Experience
Desired to have industry experience in Financial Services especially Capital Markets and Prime Brokerage.
Analytical Approach
A strong analytical thinker is required for the position as there is a bit of ambiguity in implementing solutions. Should be able to accurately define requirements for a BI solution and put them clearly into requirements document.
Management
8+ years experience leading the implementation of BI solutions using Cognos.

Global hedge fund is looking for senior level developer to work on mid and back office systems at its New York office.
Requirements:
• At least 5 years of development experience in investment / securities industry, 2 years or more must be in hedge fund or asset management.
• Strong technical and development skills
o .Net Framework, Visual Studio, C# programming
o Object oriented development experience
o SQL Server development for data query and update
o Report development using SQL Server reporting service
• Strong project management skills
o Demonstrated success in building applications and working with 3rd party to implementing vendor systems
o Full lifecycle development including requirement, architecture, implementation, testing, and release to production / DR environments.
• Hands on development experience related to reconciliation systems, reporting systems, market data and reference data systems.

The model validation team is responsible for overseeing or performing the validation of capital markets-related models used across the organization. These models are used for a variety of purposes including pricing, hedging, ALM, and the measurement of market, counterparty and operational risk. The team works closely with model development and other stakeholders during all model life cycle stages. The objective of the group is to support modeling activities within the organization, to improve model building and use practices, to minimize model risk and to meet or exceed regulatory and industry standards.
This individual will also interact directly with senior management and regulators on key modeling issues, including the identification, management and mitigation of model risk.
Qualifications: Advanced degree (Ph.D. preferred) in a quantitative discipline (e.g., econometrics, operations research, statistics, finance, mathematics, engineering, and physics).
3+ years of experience directly related to risk management and modeling with specific expertise in the areas of derivative pricing, value-at-risk, counterparty exposure models, and economic capital metrics/allocation. Knowledge of financial industry practices and regulatory standards applied model development, model validation and capital levels.
Excellent oral and written communication skills, including the ability to document and present model validation process and results suitable to a wide variety of audiences
