Shape and deliver engagements with clients—including school systems, foundations, non-profits, and government entities—to design/ create custom solutions that will significantly impact and improve student achievement. The position will include components of collaborative requirements gathering, systems design, business analysis, and project/program management. The Senior Consultant will work with and lead a team of engineers, analysts, user interface experts, and visual designers.

Responsibilities of Senior Consultant:

Provide custom technology solution development and integration across the SDLC including gathering requirements, functional specs, design, custom development, integration, testing, training, and deployment.
Participate in / lead client meetings and workshops to understand and translate business objectives into functional and technical specifications on projects representing 2 to 20 person-years effort.
Develop business models for client requirements; identify potential roadblocks and risks to implementing custom solutions and ways to work around them.
Apply knowledge of management functions, processes, and analytical techniques to gather, analyze, and evaluate information required by program or project managers and customers.
Establish and maintain relationships within the business and functional teams—client and internal. Communicate status, solutions and concerns. Disseminate information in a timely manner within the team and across functions. Work with internal teams to get feedback on current operations and requirements for new features.
Steer and oversee the completion of customer solutions and systems based on the analysis of the customer's business goals, objectives, needs, and general business environment.

Requirements of Senior Consultant:

Candidate must possess a Bachelors degree in engineering or other quantitative discipline or relevant work experience in business system applications or related field.
2-6 years of experience in a systems, management or strategy consulting firm.
Hands-on knowledge of project management and software development methodologies is required.
Ability to effectively communicate IT needs, questions, and feedback to non-IT team members/clients are essential.
Comfortable working with cross-functional teams (including designers, software developers, architects, documentation and change management) to design, develop and implement technical solutions.
Strong oral and written communication skills, including presentation skills, problem solving and trouble shooting skills are required.
Strong client management skills are required.
Experience leading and managing consulting projects of varying size, complexity and length while delivering quality work on time with multiple, competing priorities.
Creativity, with an eye to developing new and innovative solutions.
Travel required and can be a significant amount at times.

Lead application architect, Infrastructure architect and application development leads on the design, engineering and development of information technology solutions. Supports the design, analysis, development and implementation of engineering infrastructure solutions of projects for complex business solutions with a focus on performance.


Responsibilities may include risks assessments, partnering on capacity planning and the diagnosis and correction of application/network problems resulting from performance testing. Troubleshoots and proceeds on resolving infrastructure compatibility issues based on system architecture and performance volume stress testing metrics/results.


Desirable Skills/Experience:

* Architect experience in any one or Multiple of the following

* Java,

* Database (Oracle, DB2, SQL, etc..)

* Experience using, configuring, and interpreting O/S (particularly AIX) monitoring tools like NMON. Tuning experience Java App Containers like IBM WebSphere, BEA WebLogic, JBoss, or similar

* Experience in bottleneck detection at multiple layers of a solution stack: network, hardware, O/S, web tier, app/service tier, data tier
* Engineering expertise in Database (Oracle, SQL, DB2, etc..), system level and application level performance monitoring and tuning
