Senior Java Engineer for the fixed income team (50% Development / 50% Support) working alongside .NET team to work on a varied range of projects to enhance the functionality of existing products, deliver new products, and support those products. The senior software developer will join the team responsible for bond syndicate software products. You will be working on a web based system that provides bond syndicate market services to first and second tier brokerage houses in the debt capital markets globally. You will be responsible for all aspects of the software development lifecycle for the work you are delegated. You will be part of a global team of engineers and will be required to take part in all aspects of software development, including requirements analysis, data modeling, software design, coding, testing, and application support.
**Preference will be given to candidates who also possess some or all of the following skills:**
• Hands-on experience of Spring and Struts
• Use of javascript libraries
• Multi-threaded programming
• Experience in a Linux development environment, and Unix shell programming an advantage
• Team/project leading experience, especially involving a global team
• Currently has some responsibility for application support as well as development.
Candidate Profile:
-worked in Java development in a commercial environment, ideally delivering customer-facing software via the Web.
-worked in an environment combining both application development and support.
-Candidates should be strong team players who are able to work closely with other engineers, business users, and occasionally clients – good interpersonal and communication skills are therefore essential. You will possess a “can-do” attitude and be able to cope with tight deadlines.
-passion for software development is a must, and previous experience of working with financial information a plus.
Technical Skills Required:
• 5+ years in software development in a Java environment.
• Proven background in technology with experience in: Java/J2EE Technologies: EJB, JSP/Servlets, JDBC, JSTL, JMS, JNDI, XML.
• Use of front end technologies such as HTML, javascript, AJAX.
• Hands-on experience with at least one of Spring/Hibernate/Struts
• Experience of IBM Websphere, BEA Weblogic, JBoss
• Object Oriented Analysis & Design
• Experience of Oracle, Sybase, or SQL Server and the ability to write complete and efficient SQL queries
• Experience of writing & using JUnit test classes.
• Ability to balance application development and application support needs
