The software platform is currently moving from ATL/COM to C#/.NET. We are looking for exceptional team players who have previously made this transition and can help accelerate ours. The senior software engineer is expected to have a mastery of programming languages, software development tools, and operating system functionality. This engineer will create and implement feature level designs. Duties and Responsibilities ** Develop software to quality and performance standards ** Create and maintain specifications, schedules, and unit tests ** When necessary, work with customers to define requirements, features, or issues and propose solutions Candidates applying to this position will have excellent hands on server side experience developing real time systems using C++ in a MS / ASP.net environment. The candidate should be able to demonstrate a high level of knowledge of algorithms, design patterns, data structures, multithreading, compilers, performance optimization, .net programming. Must demonstrate the ability to develop large scale high performance systems in C++. Technical Requirements ** Expertise in ATL/COM (5+ years) and C#/.NET (3+ years) (Microsoft Certification a plus) ** 3+ years experience in commercial software development ** Firm grasp of Object Oriented Programming. ** A bachelor degree or better in any discipline ** Experience executing against all phases of the software development life cycle. **Previous experience building real time trading systems will be a huge plus ** Must able to demonstrate strong skills in developing large scale high performance systems in C++ in any industry. ** Demonstrated oral, written, and presentation skills ** Self-motivated. SUMMARY:  This position is primarily responsible for the integration, management and support of the firm’s Charles River trading and compliance system.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:  The following duties are generally representative of the nature and level of work assigned and are not necessarily all inclusive §         Manage the growth, stability and speed of the Charles River trading and compliance system (CRD). §         Create, modify and maintain bidirectional feeds with CRD to meet business requirements. §         Serve as the company’s first point of contact and resolution for any CRD-related issues (e.g., workflow, data, program features)

 

 

QUALIFICATIONS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. Education and/or Experience: Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or equivalent training and experience. Experience with buy-side equity asset management is preferred but not mandatory.   2+ years of recent experience with the Charles River product.  Experience with both the manager/trading side and the compliance side of the application is preferred.   Experience with Crystal Reports preferred.  Experience working in a professional software development capacity preferred. Experience working with a variety of data feeds (e.g., Bloomberg, Reuters) and accounting system feeds (e.g., Portia, Dimension, InvestOne) preferred. Experience with ETL tools, methodologies, and development preferred.

Interpersonal/Communication/Language Skills: Must be articulate, professional, and able to communicate effectively with both technical and business users. Must have ability to adjust performance to meet changing circumstances such as reorganizations, reassignments of priorities, alterations in strategic direction, and shifting customer needs. Must be able to work effectively under tight deadlines, e.g. in resolving production issues with mission-critical software.

 

Mathematical/Analytical/Reasoning Skills:  Must have excellent basic math skills. Must be detail oriented and have aggressive, positive problem solving attitude. Must have ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form. Must have ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw conclusions rapidly without assistance. Must have ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with abstract concepts.

- Day to day UNIX/LINUX support

- Development of scripts and programs to support business requirements

- Monitoring of operational environment to insure agreed upon service levels are being maintained

- Work with 3 party organizations on the configuration and support of large scale Web and database applications and to insure Service level agreements are maintained  

- Develop disaster recovery plans and associated backup strategies

Experience

 

- Development of Unix scripts and program using other programming languages (such as Python) to support business requirements

- Unix configuration for Solaris and Linux

- Daily OS administration, production monitoring and support 

- Support of large scale public web environment using Apache / Tomcat / WebSphere

- Use of all common Unix tools to manipulate data – especially web logs

- Working with 3 party hosting companies  

 

 

Skills

 

- Strong technical knowledge of Solaris and Linux

- Configuration knowledge for Solaris and Linux

- Solaris/Linux OS Administration skills

- Strong scripting ability using various scripting tools and languages – shell, Python, Perl

- Knowledge of performance monitoring techniques and tools

- Knowledge of Webservers (Apache, IIS) and Application Servers (WebSphere, JBoss, Oracle)
- Ability to work on multiple tasks in a team environment.

- Excellent communication skills
