Senior Systems Administrator
Department Description
We are seeking an experienced Systems Administrator to become an leader on the ASP infrastructure team responsible for delivering the right combination of process and leading edge technological innovation to compliment an industry leading software solution that has been developed in-house and is in the process of being rolled out.
Brief Description
Candidates must have an intense desire to deliver a bullet-proof technology infrastructure as part of a newly formed team. Implementation will be from a clean slate. Candidates must possess a deep understanding of current industry “best practices” for ASP based infrastructure architecture, systems performance (WINTEL and Linux), security practices and storage.
The ideal candidate will have a strong technical background, outstanding interpersonal skills, and the ability to communicate effectively with both technical and business team members.
Detailed Description
Working closely with the Vice-President of Information Technology; Vice-President of Operations; and Chief Technology Officer, the Senior Systems Administrator will;
- Develop server provisioning and build-out procedures
- Implement system monitoring and notification infrastructure
- Automate technology infrastructure tasks through development and acquisition of advanced productivity tools
- Complete patching and upgrades to infrastructure as needed and document
- Anticipate and troubleshoot infrastructure issues as they arise
- Develop detailed performance trending and analysis for systems and storage
- Participate in equipment procurement and budgeting process
- Develop system recovery/business continuation documentation
Preferred Requirements:
- Senior Level of Microsoft Server Administration skills in a large scale clustered environment
- Experience with Microsoft Server 2003 administration in a highly secure environment.
- Experience with DEBIAN Linux, and supporting open source tools
- Experience with Tomcat Server
- Familiarity with security protocols, hacking methods, and system hardening.
- Strong understanding of NAS and SAN.
- Previous working experience with EMC storage products (NAS) is preferred.
- Strong understanding of TCP/IP and networking in general
- Understanding of MS-SQL is a plus
- Positive attitude and drive to learn new technology
- Adaptable to fast pace and changing environment
- Attention to detail and ability to take responsibility on issues
- Strong communications and interpersonal skills
- Commitment to quality
