RESPONSIBILITIES & ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: 

• Linux/FreeBSD administration, performance tuning, monitoring, maintaining fault tolerance, and account management 
• Backups, disaster Recovery management and testing 
• Performs application upgrades and updates during change control windows 
• Create and maintain up-to-date documentation 
• Provide level 2 tech support for users in NY office (light) 

REQUIREMENTS: 

• 2+ years experience in a Linux or FreeBSD environment 
• Experience with: Apache, Postfix, sudo 
• Experience with virtualization servers (Xen, VMware) or cloud services (Amazon AWS, Rackspace) 
• Shell scripting 
• Experience with a database system 
• Team player 

Nice to have: 

• Experience working in a Mac environment 
• Some python 
• Postgresql experience 
• Juniper firewall or Cisco switches experience 
• Experience with open source configuration management tool (Puppet, Chef, cfengine) 
• UNIX/Linux and Windows Active Directory authentication integration 
• System monitoring (Nagios, Cacti, HP OpenView, OEM, etc) 
• Backup experience.

Description:    Must have deep knowledge of both Securitization and Underwriting of Real Estate loans in pools “A” and “B” regarding the relative value of the slices of the tranches. 

The Fixed Income Research team supports numerous fixed income portfolio mandates that collectively manage over $190 billion in fixed income assets. 

QUALIFICATIONS 
Proven ability to analyze CMBS deal structures. 
Investment experience in a total rate of return management 
Proven ability to make actionable relative value investment recommendations 
Understanding of convexity optimization; proven ability to make investment recommendations. based on understanding of the financing dynamics for major borrowers in various commercial real estate markets, and, particularly, in the retail and office markets 
Proficiency in TREPP and Bloomberg analytics, working familiarity with Intex, expertise in Excel, (proficiency in VBA preferred, but not required) 
Strong financial/quantitative and critical thinking skills 
Understanding of basic principles of underwriting commercial real estate mortgages 
Experience in managing CRE CDO(s) preferred but not required 
Strong organizational, communications, and interpersonal skills 
Proactive and well organized self-starter with the ability to work well under pressure, prioritize and multitask 
Collaborative work style, teamwork oriented 
Bachelors or Masters Degree in Finance, Real Estate or Economics 
Ability to travel for issuer visits or conference attendance 

RESPONSIBILITIES 
· Evaluate collateral, deal structure, and pricing of Commercial Mortgage Backed Securities in order to evaluate risk and return characteristics and make relative value recommendations to the Portfolio Manager 
· Keep Portfolio Manager and entire research team abreast of industry trends and developments in the CMBS market and in commercial real estate 
· Use 3rd party models and cash flow calculators (TREPP, Intex, etc.) to develop relative value recommendations 
· Provide guidance to junior analyst regarding daily activities and reports 
· Work with quantitative analysts to develop additional quantitative and analytical tools to enhance security selection and portfolio management 
· Work with Risk Management on evaluating loss and default forecasts for CMBS portfolio 
· Perform active surveillance of portfolio holdings in order to identify trends and make relative value recommendations 
· Monitor borrower/asset/market level performance in CMBS investments, and generate internal investment summaries, financial modeling, memorandum and reports in connection with surveillance of the existing portfolio investments 
· Contribute to overall success of the Fixed Income Research Team
