MBA or other advanced degree preferred 
Minimum of 7-10 years R&D operations and/or strategic sourcing experience 
Experience in problem solving, negotiations, presentation and collaborative team-building with non-direct reports required. 
Prefer pharmaceutical, healthcare or life sciences experience 

Responsible for leading the company’s overall sourcing program and the development of a vision regarding utilization of external vendors to achieve optimal flexibility and cost effectiveness in the development of a pipeline. Partner with the VP R&D Operations to provide sourcing leadership to the R&D team, establish/ maintain the strategic direction and ensure cross-functional consistency. 
Provide the overall strategic impetus for R&D sourcing. Lead a global R&D cross-functional team that manage the sourcing network and ensure that functional activities are aligned. 

Set strategic direction for the cross-functional sourcing program 
Work with R&D Leadership Team and business stakeholders to maintain and continuously evolve the strategic sourcing program 
Lead a cross-functional sourcing team comprised of members from each of the key functions 
Identify sourcing best practices and collaborate with the cross-functional team 
Develop and maintain common standards and processes across R&D for managing vendor performance and relationships under different models 
Partner with R&D functional areas to liaise with key cross-functional suppliers to ensure overall success of the partnerships

Develop long and mid-range plans to improve and standardize design engineering processes and procedures and communications with customers and the Company in order to ensure the continuing ability of the Company to develop and produce high quality products at competitive costs to meet customer requirements. 
Develop plans and recommendations for the incorporation of new technologies, innovations and design processes to improve efficiency and product quality. 
Plan and control product development budgets 
Hire, develop, and retain a team with appropriate behaviors, skills, and experiences necessary to execute the Engineering programs and projects.
