Description:
Business Continuity Planner for the New York City office of a leading bank. This role is responsible for the development of advance arrangements and procedures to ensure the organization can recover its most critical functions and customer services within stated Recovery Time Objectives, incurring the minimum amount of loss, possible.
This role will be responsible for the Disaster Recovery and Business Continuity Planning program, which includes coordinating the design, development, maintenance, and testing (validation) of the overall disaster recovery plan for each critical functional area of the organization, as well as for the corporation as a whole. The Disaster Recovery and Business Continuity Planning service must address three major elements of the recovery process: (1) the Emergency Response organization and the procedures for reacting to and coordinating recovery efforts; (2) the Recovery Support procedures for restoring key organization resources; and (3) the Business Resumption procedures for the continuation of critical business processes.

- Disaster Recovery and Business Continuity Planning Training and Awareness
Requirements:
* Minimum of 10 years experience working with Information System recovery planning and systems support.
* BS in Computer Science or equivalent experience.
* Business Continuity and technical certifications strongly preferred.
* Thorough knowledge and understanding of current disaster recovery planning techniques and software technologies, as well as the methods used in performing risk analysis and business impact analysis.
* Ability to obtain a working knowledge of all areas of the organization and the ability to develop a clear understanding of the Bank’s key functional processes and critical customer services.
* Working knowledge of Internet, networking (LAN and WAN), data and voice telecommunications, and distributed computing in order to assist in the preparation of recovery procedures in these areas.
* Excellent written skills, and proven policy & procedures development capability.
* Exceptional interpersonal skills to interface with managers and staff at all levels within the organization and to effectively manager vendor relationships related to record storage facilities and disaster recovery services.
* Strong project management skills.
* Ability to meet deliverables on time and on budget.
* Familiarity with office productivity tools, databases, and project management tools.
* Experience managing consultants and vendors.
* Ability to design, resource, conduct, status, and complete projects independently, with minimal supervision.
-- Technical expertise – the ability to understand and communicate the technical aspects of computer security.
-- Communication skills – the ability to verbally communicate technology-related issues and security-related issues to every level of the organization (end-users, IT staff, managers, vendors, contractors, etc.). Written communication skills are also important for writing security-related policies, standards and awareness documents.
-- Presentation skills – the ability to present Disaster Recovery and Business Continuity Planning awareness programs and training to all levels of the organization.
-- Influence skills – the ability to influence people, as well as build collaborative relationships, to overcome the negative attitudes toward security.
-- Mediation skills – the ability to bring people with competing objectives together and reach appropriate compromises toward final solutions. Equally important is the ability to take a stand when needed, even when it’s unpopular.
-- Management or business skills – the ability to manage teams, manage multiple projects or problems, convey ideas and effectively bring security solutions to individual lines of business.
-- Ability to work with diverse groups (in and outside the organization) and communicate security issues, disaster recover, and business continuity requirements.
