Product Manager - Planning Team - $125K 

The Product Manager at The client provides the strategic vision and roadmap for the product. The Product Manager is a subject matter expert who stays vigilant of the latest industry standards and innovations and strives to keep product in the lead of the derivatives risk management solutions.  The Product Manager participates in and leads the collection and understanding of business requirements with clients and The client internal teams.  The Product Manager translates those requirements into specific Vision Documents, proposals, estimates and requirements documents.  The Product Manager conducts Competitive and ROI Analysis for the proposed product changes and works with the Product Delivery Manager to package Product Release plans.   The Product Manager identifies and proposes solutions for product issues and leads Product Planning meetings and reviews.  The Product Manager provides expertise during design and development phases of product delivery, reviews development at various stages to ensure that the deliverables performs as expected.  The Product Manager attends and presents at Industry events.  This position is based in New York and requires 10-20% travel.

 

Required Experience

A good candidate would possess the following:

• 8+ yrs of relevant experience
• 2+ yrs product management experience
• BA/BS, MBA preferred
• Excellent product knowledge; preferably derivatives, Fixed Income, FX, and/or commodities
• Strong communication and presentation skills, both written and verbal

About The Position

The Business Analyst at The client is responsible for the successful gathering and organization of business requirements for both client and market driven projects related to Financial Product Reporting and Accounting with a focus on derivatives. The Business Analyst works with product management, customer service, development and quality assurance teams at The client, and directly with clients, to gather detailed business requirements, translate requirements into functional specifications and use scenarios and ensure that the requirements are met with a product deliverable. 

 

Required Experience

A good candidate would possess the following:

• Minimum 2+ years of business analysis experience in financial reporting, risk management or accounting systems. 
• Knowledge of financial accounting standards (FASB, IAS) and hedge accounting (FAS 133, IAS 39) is a plus but not required.
• Good understanding of structured developmental methodology
• Expertise in collecting and understanding business requirements, and translating these into requirements documents, use cases and functional specifications.  
• Ability to communicate business requirements and functional specifications to the development (programmers) team and review development at various stages to ensure that the deliverable performs as expected.
• Experience with the design of test plans and test cases
• Expertise in MS Exel, Visio and MS Office Suite.

• Possess a good understanding of client server and web-based technology solutions and architecture.

Exp in Fund Administration in Alternative Investments

 

The Operations group is responsible for all post trade execution processing including: trade confirmation, settlements, cash reconciliations, data integrity (pricing, ratings, security setups).  This role requires a candidate who is able and willing to remain hands on in Operations Management with a strong background in fund administration in the asset management and alternative investments segments.

 

Position Responsibilities:

Subject Matter Expertise

·         Demonstrate deep fund accounting/securities accounting expertise in alternative investment securities including leveraged loans, derivatives and fixed income securities

·         Experience in at least one of the following areas:  trade settlements, corporate actions, cash reconciliations, data management

·         Act as the primary expert in all systems used by operations; leverage this knowledge to assist in researching issues, designing workflow for new products and training new employees

·         Expertise as a fund administrator for domestic and international funds required

 

Project Management

·         Lead all process/workflow improvement projects involving the operations group and IT

·         Lead all system upgrade/replacement planning and project execution from Operations perspective

·         Document functional specifications for systems and workflow related changes

·         Execute/coordinate testing of all internal and external systems upgrades or enhancements including developing testing strategies and modifications to procedures that would be impacted by newer version

 

Industry Awareness

·         Evaluate other systems available in the market and provide comprehensive comparative analysis

·         Be aware of industry initiatives and upcoming standards and apply them to the Ares organization.

 

General Skills:

·         Excellent written and verbal communication skills

·         Strong organization and time management skills

·         Demonstrated leadership capabilities
