A challenging and exciting Senior Open System Engineering position exists within the New York Unix Engineering and Administration team at the company. The position will be responsible for the system design and implementation of large scale UNIX and Linux deployments. The ideal candidate will be required to manage, maintain and support a large number of medium to enterprise class systems according to existing procedures by utilizing in-house and standard Unix tools. Research and development of new technologies and best practices Implementation of complex and comprehensive solutions for enterprise. There is ample scope for project work and development of new services and tools. Analyze new and existing commercial middleware applications and utilities. Author and maintain technical design documentation and operational procedures Develop detailed technical documentation including the use of diagrams, flowcharts, project specifications, and translations of user requirements to technical functions. Engage software development staff to design and troubleshoot applications in an enterprise environment. Because of the large environment position may require off-hour support at times.

Qualifications:

*10 years experience in UNIX Systems Administration required ¿ Sun Solaris ( Primary ), AIX, Linux .
*Project management skills.
*Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills.
*Excellent understanding of networking principles ¿ TCP/IP, UDP, Routing, DNS.
*Good understanding of Storage and related Products ¿ Solaris Volume Manager, Veritas Volume Manager, EMC, Hitachi, NAS
*Strong Scripting ability ¿ Korn Shell or Perl ( preferred )
*Excellent written and verbal communications skills.
*Ability to handle heavy workloads with limited supervision.
*Proven leadership skills and knowledge of automating enterprise application deployments.
*Bachelors Degree or equivalent required.
