The Voice Engineer plays a leadership role in the Network Operations group, managing our Cisco VoIP Telephony system and Unified Communications platform. The Voice Engineer will act as the lead engineer of this group and help set the vision, for design, enhancements, support and maintenance. This position will also mentor junior level technical staff and technical support staff. Working with the senior managing director of network operations they will ensure a high level of availability and customer service to the Organization’s staff. 

Responsibilities 

Proficient experience in the design, implementation and operation of the voice infrastructure supported by Cisco Call Manager, Unity, Presence and Fax servers. 
Lead support engineer for the day to day operation of voice services. 
Maintain & support all PSTN and Voice Over IP services ensuring high levels of availability and customer service. 
Develop improved methodologies for providing stronger voice services. 
Research new technologies for applicability to the Organization’s voice environment. 
Provide off hours support as required. 

Experience and Competencies 
6+ years experience in an enterprise-level voice engineering or design role. 
Demonstrated leadership skills. 
Accuracy and attention to detail. 
Excellent troubleshooting and demonstrated critical thinking skills. 
Excellent interpersonal relationship skills. 
Operational experience with Cisco Call Manager 7.0, Unity 7.0 and Presence 7.0 
Operational experience with VoIP services over a LAN and WAN. 
Operational experience with QoS policies in relation to voice protocols. 
Knowledge of VoIP, SCCP, SIP, H323, G711, G721, G726, and G729 protocols. 

Academic Qualifications 

BS degree in Computer Science or related field 
CCVP certification or higher, on track or qualified experience.
