Accountant with three to four years of relevant hedge fund financial accounting experience.  The individual will assist the Accountant responsible for the firm’s hedge fund, and its fund of funds.The fund, unlike traditional hedge fund strategies, invests in structured finance transactions and uses derivatives to hedge various types of residual risk.   

 

 

Job Responsibilities

  • Support structured finance trades and liquid market hedge transactions by liaising with trading group & prime broker
  • Perform core operational activities including position & P/L reconciliations and liaising with trading group & prime broker to resolve any variances
  • Maintaining the financial statements for the master and feeder funds
  • Produce operational management reporting to support the senior management of the firm: includes monthly management reports, P/L attribution analysis
  • Work closely with the firms hedge fund administrator to reconcile monthly NAVs
  • Produce weekly fund performance estimates to distribute to investors
  • Maintain all pertinent transaction and investor documentation on proprietary electronic document management system
  • Opportunity to implement with internal technical support team an automated process to support fund reporting

 

Requirements

Bachelor of Science/Art, preferably accounting degree, min GPA 3.0

Three to four years of accounting experience (either hedge fund, accounting in financial service or big 4 experiences)

PURPOSE

 

Engineering role on Market Data Infrastructure team. Provide technical direction for quote and trading infrastructure. Knowledge of Unix, Windows,  Networking, Wombat, Reuters RMDS, Bloomberg, Thomson One, Royal Blue and other major marketdata systems. Provide good communication between marketdata users, technology staff and management.

 

 

 

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

 

  • Design, deploy and support market data quoting and trading infrastructure.

 

  • Provide project planning for relocations, systems installations and disaster recovery.

 

  • Ensure documentation on all systems in use for production and disaster recovery and regulatory purposes.

 

·         Ensure production problems, bugs, system problems/changes are documented and requests are acted upon promptly. Keep Senior Management advised of situations that may compromise agreed deliverables and/or affect production systems.

 

·         Responsible for the dissemination of daily outages related to marketdata. Assess outages to distribute notification to the correct audience.

 

·         Provides technical guidance and training to staff members regarding Reuters, Thomason Financial, Bloomberg, Royal Blue and all other marketdata applications.

 

·         Participate in the evaluation of test results ensuring that system changes accurately meet business requirements and process service criteria, fit into the technical environment and that existing operations are not adversely impacted.

 Plays an integral role in the deployment of all quote and trading applications; interaction with the project management is key to the success of the project.

 

 

JOB SPECIFICATIONS

  • Understanding of Market Data concepts: Datafeeds, stock exchanges and vendor reporting requirements.
  • Knowledge of Fix, STAMP, QIX, SDP, SFTI, ECNs. 
  • Good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Knowledge of basic project management skills.

·         Possess interpersonal skills enabling the incumbent to deal with and relate well with several levels of users and management.

 

 

Required:

 

  • Knowledge of major marketdata vendor platforms such as Wombat, Reuters RMDS, TIBCO, Bloomberg, Thomson Financial and Inter Dealer Brokers.
  •  Experience with Market data services inventory and cost reconciliation with tools such as MDM, FITS, or GLOW.
  • Knowledge of ECN, FIX trading technologies
  • Knowledge of Direct Exchange feeds
  • Knowledge of Trade Order Management systems
  • Worked with Intel, Sparc, Opteron hardware to support Windows and UNIX operating systems
  • Mastery of shell scripting in bourne shell and perl

·         Management skills- planning, scheduling, organizing and negotiating. Demonstrated competency in crafting efficient and effective solutions to diverse and complex business problems.

 

Preferred:

  • Knowledge of programming languages such as C, C++

 

 

WORKING CONDITIONS (Legislative Requirement)

 

  • Working conditions requires moderate physical dexterity.
  • The discipline to be very careful when working around live equipment in the data center.
  • Be able to deal with the elevated stress levels during market data outages.
  • The pressures of working in a trading environment.

  • 35% is spent on design and engineering new systems.
  • 25% is spent vendor management.
  • 25% is spent on day to day support.
  • 10% is spent documentation.
  • 5% is spent on market data changes as business requirements

Desktop Support and Environmental Quality Assurance Engineer


The Desktop Support and Environmental Quality Assurance Engineer will be responsible for working in a group to deploy, support and maintain the distributed technology infrastructure for the Private Client Services group. Other tasks include documenting systems architecture and interacting with various Technology Operations groups on the daily operational needs of the business unit. This role will participate in complex technical projects and interface with technology and the business users. Specific duties and responsibilities include:

·        Test desktop and laptop hardware/software to corporate standards and business needs.

·        Define packaging and distribution standards.

·        Provide post-release follow up to assure business objectives have been met and resolve any outstanding technical issue(s)

·        Work with Systems Administrators and Network Engineers to maintain, improve, and optimize the production environment.

·        Perform advanced system administration on proprietary or third party systems.

·        Perform hardware and software troubleshooting.

·        Proven ability to manage problems and issues during crisis with the ability to prioritize and multi-task in a highly dynamic environment.

·        Analyze hardware and software performance.

·        Recommend and improve configurations to achieve operating/optimal efficiencies.

·        Ability to do detail work

·        Experience dealing with people at various levels in a corporate structure

·        Manage multiple, high priority value-add projects delivering quality results, on-time and within budget.

·        Help ensure professional, courteous handling of employee requests with outstanding customer service skills.

·        Contribute ideas towards improving overall project team efficiency

·        Off hours/on call support as required.

·        Proficient administering and troubleshooting Windows and UNIX/Linux systems.



Qualifications

·        Minimum 3 years of experience in user support role with strong analytical skills from experience troubleshooting, diagnosing, and resolving technical issues based on client and corporate needs following corporate standards.

·        MUST have experience building, deploying, and migrating Windows XP and Windows 2003 Server systems in a LAN/WAN environment

·        Working knowledge of Active Directory and Network technologies

·        Must have familiarity with database concepts.

·        MUST have experience with patch management in a Windows environment.

·        MUST demonstrate ability to coordinate vendors and/or consultants engaged in the installation of hardware and software and have experience evaluating hardware and software products.

·        MUST be self directed and motivated with the ability to work effectively in a fast paced environment.

·        MUST be a team player, capable of interaction with users with the ability to respond quickly in a dynamic environment.

·        MUST demonstrate exceptionally well developed written and verbal communication skills.

·        Preference will be given candidates with the following experience:

o       Change control process management

o       Scripting knowledge

o       Application packaging

o       Knowledge of Ghost - both upload and download and working with sysprep

o       Local and Domain Group Policies
