CONTRACT: FIX Connection Testing, Certification Analyst - rate 60-80hr NYC

• FIX Connection Testing, Certification Analyst

 

Experience / Skills Required

 

• Thorough understanding of FIX Protocol from both a client and exchange perspective is REQUIRED.

• Candidate must have experience with Electronic Trading Client Connectivity (FIX), Trading interface design and analyzing message formats. This person will understand FIX business requirements from Institutional clients/brokers, discuss and organize physical connectivity and understand and implement client/broker testing process and procedures.

• Minimum of 5 years experience of Securities and trading industry experience / strong background in technology operations in the financial markets industry is required.

• Experience with certification and regression testing, the ability to work under pressure and manage conflicting priorities and deadlines, and proficiency in Futures, Fixed Income and Equities Trading is required.

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills with both technical and non-technical stakeholders are required. This must be a detail and process oriented candidate for management reporting and project management.

• Candidate must be self-motivated, analytical, and strategic.

• Portfolio Trading and Algorithmic Trading experience is desired.

• A strong Vendor Relationship Management background is desired.

• Knowledge of and experience using Equities and Futures Trade Order Management Systems (OMS’s, EMS’s) is required.

• Experience with Equities and Futures compliance regulations is desired.

• Candidates must have experience in Data Networking Background Responsibilities. The ability to work as part of a support team liaising with staff in LA is required.

• Demonstrate strong knowledge and learning curve of using automated test tools

• Technical knowledge of SQL and Unix is REQUIRED

• Knowledge/application of structured testing methodologies.

 

 

Description:

 

A Major financial organization, located in New York, NY (Midtown Location) is seeking a strong FIX Certification person. This person will support FIX gateway users on a day-to-day basis on any reported issues and resolve issues by closely working with trading support team and trade desk personnel. This person will be managing the configuration and testing of the FIX gateway providing client’s access for Order Management Systems and Algorithmic trading engines. This person will provide documentation on all customized scripting solutions and infrastructure and identify and validate software code fixes in response to support issues. This person will conduct technical diagnosis of operational problems on development and production environments. This person will work closely with product managers, developers and various internal customers to ensure smooth client deployments and work closely with internal support organizations and business unit to monitor the status of ongoing technology issues and expedite resolution.

 

Main duties:

 

• Preparation of test plans, test cases, test scripts

• Automation of test cases using in house system

• Execution of various manual and automated tests (including functional, regression, load, performance etc.)

• Analyzing test results, investigating problems to the detailed design level and providing solutions to these problems

• Recording and managing defects

• Designing, implementing, using and improving tools used for automated testing and other business improvement

• Development and planning of test campaigns and other activity

• Develop and maintain notes on certifications.

• Communicating and managing issues with customers and others

• Task management of specific activities assigned by manager

• Update proprietary FIX interface specifications and associated documentation as needed

• Work closely with the development organization to provide second-level FIX connectivity production support as needed

Successful candidates possess the following technical skills/background:

 

·         Thorough knowledge and experience in administering Windows 2003 servers in domain environment including installing, troubleshooting and configuring Domains, Active Directory, DNS. DHCP, IIS, Group Policy, FSMO roles, User/Group administration, auditing event logs. MCSA or MSCE certification a plus.

·         Experience with server virtualization (management & optimization hosts; configuration & provisioning of virtual hosts). VMWare Infrastructure 3 experience desirable. Experience managing VMHosts in SAN environment w/ boot from SAN configuration desirable.

·         Thorough knowledge and experience in installing, deploying, configuring, and troubleshooting Windows XP & Vista.

·         Experience managing Microsoft SQL Server 2000/2005 (provisioning databases; privilege management; maintenance plans; performance; replication; scheduling & management of jobs)

·         Exchange Server 2000/2003 installation, configuration, administration, and troubleshooting expertise with 2007 experience preferred, but not required

·         Network administration experience (LAN/WAN connectivity, network architecture, network security concepts, managed switches, QoS, VLANs, TCP/IP concepts). CCNA certification a plus.

·         Experience in software deployment/maintenance via Symantec Ghost, Intellimirror, and WSUS a plus.

·         Experience installing, configuring, administrating, and troubleshooting terminal services. Citrix Access Essentials or Presentation Server a plus.

·         Experience managing & maintaining enterprise backup system. Symantec BackupExec a plus.

As a key member of our IT team, some after-hours /weekend work will be necessary to minimize the impact of system changes on your end users. Additionally, limited travel will be necessary in support of our emerging and growing branch offices.

They are seeking people who have direct high-frequency equity
experience.
Many of the banks have had layoffs in this area.
Their specialty is high-frequency trading and execution optimization
with sophisticated and rigorous mathematical underpinnings. Strong
research is at the very core of their activities. They are expanding
aggressively, both in their main software offerings and in new areas of
quantitative trading. Quants will be performing fundamental research in
topics relevant to high-frequency trading, including execution
optimization, risk management and trading strategies. They will
participate actively in the development and implementation of results
from their research..

A successful candidate will:

* Be very smart, curious and interested in quantitative finance.
* Have solid mathematical training. We prefer at least a master's
degree in physics, mathematics, computer science, engineering or
the physical sciences.
* Be an excellent programmer-and even more important, enjoy
programming. Our critical advantage is the ability to deploy
trading algorithms better and faster than anyone else, so we don't
have a strong divide between research and development.

Specific skills that may help a candidate are:

* Professional-level knowledge of Java, C++ or .NET
