· Good grasp and exposure to supporting systems and solutions – rules engine, BPM

Network Engineer - (US-NY-New York)

- Expert level subject matter expert (SME) on network protocols, platforms, and design best practices
- Drives, manages, and "owns" end-to-end projects. Focused on owning and delivering standards to support the business
- Works with stakeholders to gather and validate requirements
- Test, develop, and standardize technologies, products, tools, and protocols
- Cleary and concisely communicates, documents, and trains others on standards and best practices
- Provides intensive support for the initial production deployment of new capabilities. Provides ongoing 4th level escalation support (not on-call rotation)
- Proactively and continuously improves all aspects of the team's operation remit
Required Skills
- Minimum of 7 years experience ideally on large networks in a design, architecture, or R&D role
- Strong understanding of design, protocol, and platform best practices
- Expert level knowledge of BGP, EIGRP, and OSPF
- Hands-on experience with Cisco CRS-1, 7600, 6500, and 7200
- Strong understanding of MPLS technologies such as L3 VPN, L2 VPN, and any combination of at least two of the following: VPLS, MPLS QoS, MPLS TE and mVPN
- Strong understanding and hands on experience with multicast technologies such as PIM-SM, PIM-SSM, and bidir
- Understanding of internal switch and router hardware and software architectures
- Experience with test tools (e.g. Smartbits, traffic generators, etc) and simulation tools
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills. The ability (and desire) to clearly and thoroughly document complex standards
- Motivated self starter, ability to drive projects to completion
- Excellent attention to detail
Desired Skills:
- Experience with JUNOS (and Juniper platforms) is a big plus
- Any quantifiable project management skills, certifications, or experience is a plus
- Working knowledge of carrier technologies such as SONET, SDH, DWDM, and Ethernet services
- Experience with Packet Design, OPNET, or similar tools is a plus
- CCIE Service provider is highly desirable, although any CCIE is acceptable. PMP/PMI desired
